No longer deep space, renaming DS9

Sisko Station?

I wonder if baseball became popular on Bajor. It’s slow paced enough to appeal to dull Bajoran males.

What if they kept the name of the Station but changed the title of the series instead.

How about: Adventures In The Gamma Quadrant.

Lots of good ones mentioned already. A few more:
- GQ or bust
- New Tatooine
- Enter here at your own risk
- Alpha Quadrant Gift Shop
- Space Mutt (Fed-Cardi mix)

It's also curious to me that there were presumably only *8* Deep Space stations in the history of the Federation before Deep Space 9. Was it a title that was seldomly used, or was it reused multiple times? Maybe "Deep Space 1077" would've been too much of a mouthful.

You keep telling yourself that.

Just because the federation used soft power to expand doesn't make it any less a imperial power.

They were there at the behest of the Bajoran Provisional government. They didn’t just come in and invade once the Cardassians left.

Why assume the stations were numbered sequentially?
That would be my guess: Starfleet has a numbered list of strategic locations outside UFP space where they'd like to have a base, and numbers them according to location.
A present-ish equivalent would be stations at the Legrange points: you might build one at L5 before the one at L1, but number according to the placing not construction order.

Backspace Nine (BS9).

Or Bajoran Station Nine, which would also be BS9.

Or Cardassia Sentry 9 (CS9)

Or Dominion Sentinal 9 (D9S)

Or Exploration Station 9 (ES9)

Or Friendship Station 9 (FS9) or Far Space 9 (FS9)

Or Galactic Spanner 9 (GS9)
