NHL Discussion - 2009-2010 Season

This is the time of the year where I really start to wonder regarding the Sharks. I feel another disappointment all the way and the season isn't over yet.

With the Avs winning and the Flames not, the Western playoff teams are decided.

Anyone else here rooting for a Coyotes' Cinderella story? I think they have a great chance so long as Bryzgalov stays healthy.

I was so thrilled when the Thrashers brought the NHL back to Atlanta. Now I just want them to go away. 10 or 11 seasons now and not one single playoff win. One of the worst franchises ever. :(

It sucks to have a home team that the only reason to go to a game is to see the visiting team.

Oh, and a big sarcastic congrats to the Thrashers for being the only team in the NHL to finish second in their division, and still not make the playoffs. Not many teams can ever accomplish that feat.

To be fair, that's also a reflection on the entire division.

No question about it. It was more a comment on being a fan of Atlanta sports teams. An "it could only happen to us" type thing. Other than the Braves 14 titles/1 WS win run, we've had a whole bunch of nothing.

Pretty sad that other than the Braves 1 WS win, our only other shining moment was a 1996 IHL (now defunct) hockey championship with the Atlanta Knights. What I wouldn't give to live in a real sports town. Maybe someday.

I followed the NHL much more diligently in the years we did not have an NHL franchise. Now that the Thrashers have a bad taste in my mouth by January, it's hard for me to even follow and enjoy the remainder of the season and the playoffs. It sucks.

I was so thrilled,I buy a SIDNEY CROSBY CHL jersey.:guffaw:

You know, if Tampa Bay gets either Seguin or Hall, I'm going to be pissed. That is one franchise that is so poorly run, it doesn't deserve to get more talent. (re: Stamkos, Hedman)

Giving up three shorties in one game? Bad.
Giving up three shorties in one period? Awful.
Being the first team in the history of the NHL to give up up three shorties in one power play? Deeply, deeply pathetic.
Being the first team in the history of the NHL to give up up three shorties in one power play... to the lowest scoring team in the NHL? Priceless!

^ Yeah I saw that... that was just awesome. :p

So Henrik Sedin got four points in his last regular season game for a total of 112. Ovechkin currently has 109 points and has more goals than Hank. The Caps play their last game against Boston tonight, so I'm hoping Ovie only gets one or two points.

I hope Detroit wins today but they don't look very good after one period. I do have to wonder if they think they have nothing to play for. I would think Positioning, especially in the west, would be important.

Flyers just beat the Rangers in OT, so they're going into the playoffs and the Rangers are out. :p

And Canucks will be playing my second favourite team in the league (Kings) in round one. That should be entertaining.

I feel dirty for cheering for Detroit but they got it done. Sharks/Avs in the first round.

The Flyers/Rangers game felt so anticlimactic going into a shootout. Should have played it like a postseason game.

Yeah, they squeeked in. We've had decent success against the Devils, but it'll take a lot to get our old form back.
