I'm starting to think that I may be switching my allegiance to Boston...

^ And people wonder why a lot of us Canucks fans are questioning AV why he's playing Rome over Ballard. Hopefully he'll take Alberts out (even though he wasn't the problem tonight) and put Ballard and Tanev in as the third pairing.

I hope Rome is suspended, at least 2 games. That's a clear violation of the rule 48 rule and just a plain old nasty hit.

^ Yup. It's about a second late, at least partially a headshot, and he leaves his feet. That's a dirty-hit trifecta right there.

Horton's done for the year.

The worst thing is that many Canucks fans are cheering the trade off. Not only does Boston lose one of their top players but the Canucks potentially lose their worst (or least popular) player.

Rome should be suspended. I'm thinking two games.

It was definitely a late hit but Horton should know better than to admire his pass. That in no way excuses the hit though. I don't think there was a deliberate attempt to injure, Rome's not that kind of guy, even Thornton on Boston admitted that as he played with him in the minors. He didn't leave his feet until after the hit either, but he should have realized it was far too late to hit him after Horton made the pass.

It's amazing how a hit like that can go two ways in terms of reaction by the teams - hopefully this doesn't rally Boston like Torres' hit on Seabrook did.

Ballard should come in, but man oh man do we need Hamhuis back.

Rome's been suspended for four games.

And yeah, I really hope Hammer gets back soon.

Yeah, I just read that here but hadn't seen the footage yet. Gruesome. Apparently if the Cup ends before the full 4 games are served, it continues to next season

4 games is a decent response, better than i expected. Of course, still a shitty trade-off for Boston, losing one of their top players, in exchange for the Canucks losing a role-player. For Boston, though, gotta like the turn towards a more physical series. Gotta think that style of play favors Boston, if they can keep up the intensity without having everyone suspended...

I don't think Rome was trying to hurt Horton either, but that suspension is well-deserved. Too bad about Horton, but what's important is that he gets better. Concussions are no joke.

The system works!
Not really.

1.) They made this decision with the outcry over game 2 being decided by the Burrows non-suspension fresh in their minds.

and/or

2.) Rome was an easy, unpopular target. Why not make a big showy gesture when his teams fans & media wanted him out of the line-up anyway?

I think four games is reasonable, but its simply not on par with any other call these playoffs. Hell, this is the first time in the history of the SC Final that a player has even been given a suspension longer than a single game.

Well, things have certainly turned in Boston's favour. They've completely humiliated the Canucks in the last two game with a really lopsided 12-1 goal tally.

Seems everyone is playing hurt on the Canucks. It's tough to watch.

There's no crisp breakout passes, I don't see the defense jumping up to join the play, and I don't see any odd man rushes.

Of course Tim Thomas is playing out of his mind right now so that doesn't help.

And Boston has turned in to a really dirty team, they're taking liberties like they're going out of style.

We need Hamhuis back big time. Ballard was historically bad last night.

^Just so we're clear, Boston maybe turning into a dirty team, but Vancouver has been a dirty team since at least Game 1 of this series.

Yeah it totally just started for Boston in this series

They were never dirty at all in these playoffs

All teams do it, whaddyagonna do.

It's tough to call the other team dirty when your mouth is still full of their fingers
What's up with weirdos putting their fingers in other guys' mouths anyways?

I thought you were talking about this series only, since you said Boston has turned into a really dirty team. Thanks for the clarification.
