Whew. What a game, so glad they finally got that monkey off their backs.
It was a fantastic series, even with the two eggs they laid in games 4 and 5.
Credit to the Hawks though, what a group of players they have there. Duncan Keith is an absolute beast and Toews is just an incredible player. Player of the game last night was Crawford though, looks like the Hawks have a bonafide #1 goalie in him and he'll serve them well in future years.

I do have to give a lot of credit to Luongo. He shat himself for a few games, but he -- and the rest of the Canucks -- played balls-out last night. A 2 - 1 overtime game, featuring a penalty shot and amazing goaltending at both ends ... that's as fine a hockey game as you'll ever see, friends.
I'll still be following the playoffs, but I need a new team. The Avalanche were long gone from the postseason (really, once Pierre Lacroix went upstairs and they repeated the Tony Granato experiment, they were doomed), so ... I think I'll throw my lot with the Bruins, since they're one of the Original Six.

QFT. I was happier with the result than you were but still, that was an amazing game.
As a Leafs fan it always pains me to cheer for the Habs but here's hoping they can win it tonight. I know it's stupid but you gotta cheer for the Canadian teams around here. It's just what's done.
So far, these playoffs have been really exciting. I can't wait until the Leafs are allowed to play with the big kids again so I can have a more than passing interest in the results.

3-3 and into OT. The Habs refuse to go away. If the Bruins really want it they're not going to just walk away with it. This is still anyone's game. The Habs came to play and even if they lose in the end they still made a series of it.

^^ The Bruins had to earn it. At no time did they blow Montreal away. I'm disappointed they lost, but nobody gave them any credit and respect and the Bruins needed OT in Game 7 to take it.
In the east I hope Tampa can hang on against Pittsburgh. Ultimately in the east I want to see Boston and Philadelphia go down. Especially the Flyers.

The Bruins' problem was too many damn penalties. The Canadiens got so many damn power play goals in this series.
I hope the Lightning hold out against the Pens, too. And I also agree with you about seeing the Flyers go down, sooner than later. I'm afraid I can't agree with you about Boston, though.

Well, either way is okay for me, honestly. I picked Boston to win it all a few weeks ago so while I would rather have seen the Habs win, this is okay by me.
Something I was wondering about the last few days of this series was how different it would be if Cooke had not been suspended. While he's a dirty player, he could be a decent hockey player with some good skills and I think he would have impacted this series. I'm surprised it was something I didn't hear brought up at all when people talked about it.
Cooke is one of the best PKers in the league, and he finished tied for third in SH points. He was a major factor in the PK thriving despite Staal missing the first three months and Orpik missing two lengthy stretches of the season.
That said, the Pens' downfall came at the other end of the ice. They wound up with 3 of their top 4 Centers out during the series, with a third line rookie centering the top line. Add to that a complete lack of anybody capable of running a PP, on ice or behind the bench, and they were in sorry shape offensively.
I'm really impressed with how well they did down the stretch and in the series, to be honest. Take over $20 million out of the lineup of any other team in this league and let's see them do better.
Boston, eff yeah. Pity they have to be playing election day, but yeah, bring on the conference semis.
