NFL Football 2009

I am so pleased and surprised that there is this whole, "My team sucks!" thing going on, and my team and I aren't part of it for once. :D :p

So, I pulled the fantasy football maneuver of the year tonight. I picked up a few players on waivers, and waived a couple that are going tomorrow night since they'll be on a bye. I thought the system was such that since the week already started the changes wouldn't take effect until next week. Nope! I've got two holes in my roster for this week, and I can't pick my players back up and play them since they won't clear waivers in time. :guffaw:

Digits, dude, no offense but your team is awful.

What a win from the Niners today. Yeah they don't do it pretty (And for some reason people seem to have a problem with that) but they still win. This team is reminding me a bit of the Baltimore Ravens in the hayday of their defense. The offense wasn't all that great, but the defense was one of the best, if not the best in the league. It's tough shutting out a team (Good or bad) but the Niners did it for the first time in a decade for a team. Now the schedule gets tougher and I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this team does in the next month or so.

You can't be offended by the truth.

Well, I guess you can, but you shouldn't be...

The Rams are playing semi-pro ball at this point. Shut out twice in the first four games. Our top receiver out for the season. Bulger sleepwalking his way through yet another year.

It's painful.

:scream:

I don't think it will hold up, but it is fun to watch the Broncos winning.

It is also official: the Denver offense really is as unimpressive as they appeared to be against bad teams.
:rolleyes:Bzzt Wrong.
Both Cincinatti and Dallas are doing quite well. As of now the SI power rankings has Denver as the 11th best offense in football

And the Patriots hang on to beat the Ravens! Two touchdowns for Brady, both to Moss--good for the Patriots, not so good for my fantasy team (I started Welker this week). But I'm winning there anyway, so I can't complain. :techman:
Brady's looked healthy so far, and the Pats' season will depend heavily on that.

Nice win against a very good team yesterday. Though I nearly blew a vein in my neck when they recovered the opening kickoff fumble at the 11 and couldn't find the end zone.

Now they have to go play undefeated Denver. Tough stretch for them right now. :alienblush:

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with that. 11th best? What the offense is doing best right now is not making major mistakes and coming through when it really matters. They are struggling to finish drives and post much more than FG's to the board. Against the bad teams, they are posting a fair amount of points, but against decent teams they have posted just enough to win. I say this as a Denver fan, but if they didn't have a really good looking defense, they would not be winning simply because the offense isn't giving the team all that much help.

Re: The Chiefs Suck

For a team that only lost 4 games all last year, 3+1playoff, the Titans have managed in a month to go 0-4.

We can now trout out the mantra: Maybe Next Year

Where did it all go South on this team?

Maybe they just had one of those lightning in a bottle seasons last year. But I still didn't think 0-4 was gonna happen. Their playoff chances are damn near cooked.

Dear Bears,
Besides one of the more frustrating first halves I can remember, you guys played well and demolished the Lions. Well done.

Dear Jay Cutler,
Another brilliant anti-gunslinger game. You threw short a lot, took what was there, and almost never made a poor decision. Keep this up.

Dear Fancy Fucking Forte,
Nice to have you back. Sorry about your godawful o-line, buddy.

Dear Refs,
Loved the bullshit phantom facemask call that turned the Lions' first drive into a TD.

Dear Kellen Davis,
Every time you get some playing time, I really like what I see. You're going to be a great guy to have around when Clark is eventually done. If nothing else, you're obscene in the red zone.

Dear Offensive Line,
Get fucked and die in a goddamn fire. You guys are a black hole of utter suck. You let rushers in untouched, you got shoved around trying to block for Forte (at least twice I saw one of you goddamn assholes get shoved into him at the line of scrimmage), and you generally shit the bed. From what I've seen so far, you guys get absolutely NO push in the running game, and you suck at pass protection, too. Cutler is on pace for 32 sacks this season, 3 more than the 2008 unit that you guys replaced. You guys are garbage. Olin Kreutz, please put down the Big Mac and try to remember how zone blocking schemes work, you fat, worthless piece of shit.

Dear Defense,
You looked a lot less like the 2007-2008 Bears today, and a lot more like an actual NFL defense. You got tons of pressure, you bottled up the run, you got some stops on third down. For once, you didn't give up 12 yards on the same goddamn quick slant all goddamn day. Megatron did absolutely torch you in the first half, but then you made an actual honest-to-God halftime adjustment and contained him pretty well in the second. That was a pretty heartening game to watch. Looks like Lovie and Marinelli have turned you guys around, maybe not to '05-'06 form, but at least to the point where you're almost decent. Keep it up. And for the love of God, will the linebackers stop getting fucking hurt?

Dear Knox and Hester,
Holy shit, please be OK. If you guys are both out, Rashied Davis has to play. RASHIED. FUCKING. DAVIS.

^Having Haynesworth sign with the Redskins?
No doubt that is part of the equation. However, to my dismay its not the big one. We have no corners. QB's are tossing the ball all over which yes having Haynesworth in on pass rushes would slow that down but the corners still have to cover and ours can't.

On the other side of the ball our offense seems to sputter after a few 1st downs which is at best in field goal range. Lack of offensive diversity in play calling or personnel to carry out diversity? All 4 teams able to shut down a mostly unchanged offensive from a 13-4 team. Maybe just enough game film to strategize?

Titans. Next Year Baby! :)
