NFL Football 2009

There's lots of talk of Favre and revenge. I think Minnesota will win the game, but that's because they have Adrian Peterson.

I hate to double post, but I have a question. I won't pretend to understand the NFL Blackout rules, but is there a reason that CBS is showing paid programming in the Philadelphia market instead of the Ravens game? The Eagles have a bye this week. The only possible reason I could think of is that Giants are on Fox, but that doesn't really make sense either.

^I think something like that depends on the local markets. If the local TV stations don't want to show other games, then they won't. I know that in Cheyenne, Fox will often only show either the early or late game (since it's the NFC games), and CBS will often only show the Broncos game in a double-header, or it won't do football on a byeweek.

I don't think CBS had a scheduled double header this week so that's why there is only one game and you're getting an afternoon CBS game instead.

I guess that makes sense (not sure why they couldn't just show both games). But it appears I'm getting Jets and Saints instead.

And the Patriots hang on to beat the Ravens! Two touchdowns for Brady, both to Moss--good for the Patriots, not so good for my fantasy team (I started Welker this week). But I'm winning there anyway, so I can't complain. :techman:

No offense to you Niner fans, but I'm hoping Michael Crabtree suffers a career-ending injury while he's holding out. That would be the ultimate lesson learned.

I know some die-hard Niners fans who feel the exact same way. The guy's pretty much proven he's a greedy idiot who doesn't deserve to play in the NFL because he's clearly not a team player. :wtf:

Good game despite a slow start from the Bears today. I didn't even know they were capable of scoring that many points in a game against ANYONE.

The Raiders got killed today. I am so not impressed with Russell.

Neither is Jeff Garcia.

I haven't seen the guy play much, but everything I've read and heard from friends indicates he can't make good passing decisions to save his life. I don't know whether that's his fault or bad coaching, but neither one would surprise me given the state of the Raiders franchise.

It would seem to be official: the Denver defense is as good as everyone thought.

It is also official: the Denver offense really is as unimpressive as they appeared to be against bad teams.

Brady's looked healthy so far, and the Pats' season will depend heavily on that.

You should be happy, as no one outside of Denver expected Denver to be anything resembling a good team. Their defense looks phenomenal and their offense is serviceable. That's good enough to get them to the Superbowl if you believe the 2005-6 Bears weren't a fluke.

Won't argue with that. Hell, even I thought it was going to be a bad year for Denver. With that said...

Hot Damn!!! :D The last 7 minutes of a game hasn't had me that excited in a long time! The defense went right on doing what they spent all day showing they could do, and the offense came through when it was most important. Champ Bailey was challenged, and he made the 'boys pay for it. Yeah!!!

Well, my Beloved Rams have served up another shit sandwich for their fans to choke down. Seriously, how inept can one team be? They hang around and play decent defense for a quarter or two, then it's like all hell breaks loose and everyone gets stoopid.

Running the opening kickoff back 92 yards only to have a penalty bring it back to your own 22? Our trillion dollar kicker misses again (1-4 on the season)? Fumbling a punt into your own end zone for a Niners TD? Penalty after fucking penalty in crucial situations?

Poor Steven Jackson is out there running as hard as he can, but he's got no help at all.

I don't know how many more of these weekly self-soilings I can stand.

FUCK!!

:scream:

:brickwall:

Denver is the luckiest team in the NFL. Aside from their destruction of the Raiders last week they haven't impressed on offense at all. They really should be 2-2, but hell, I'll take the 4-0!

The Lions lost today, but were in the game until Stafford went down with an injury. He appears to be the real deal. I hope his knee injury isn't serious.
