NFL Football 2009

Wow... the Bills starters are actually managing to look worse each week in the preseason. Yes, we have played against 3 very good defenses (PIT, GB, and CHI), but you would expect to see flashes of something.

I'm making the call now, we're gonna have a top-3 draft pick and a new coach AGAIN next year. I wonder if there's any amount of money to get Cowher to coach here....

I'd be more worried about moving vans showing up under the cover of darkness, bound for Toronto.:alienblush:

When Ralph Wilson dies, absolutely. It's been pretty common knowledge for the last 10 years that Ralph's widow and children don't want to pay the inheritance taxes on a $1 billion dollar team, so the Bills will be unloaded... and it'll be real hard to find a buyer for the team in Buffalo. There have been some rumblings about Jim Kelly putting together an ownership group to keep the team here, but not many people are putting faith in that rumor.

Skywalker - Jauron's hiring has never been a popular choice in this town... except for a couple weeks when we we were 5-1 last season.

Well lookie there. For the third game in a row, the second string crew is the only Denver offense to show any semblence of life. This year is going to suck ass if things don't start rolling... 1TD and 2FG's over 6 quarters is not good.

Kinda reminds me of the Niners last night. First crew didn't do much of anything, bring in Davis and Sheets and that third line and the team goes gangbusters. Of course it was also against Dallas' third string, but that goes without saying.

Teddy Bruschi decides to call it a career. As a Pats fan, thanks for all the memories, your competitiveness and for being a class act on and off the field!

Damn, first Vrabel is traded and now Bruschi retires. Who's their linebacking core now? Hopefully Mayo and Thomas will step up in the LB corps.

Well for better or worse (and I suspect it will be mostly worse) I took the plunge and became a Chiefs season ticket holder again last Friday. I couldn't believe that there were still lower level tickets available. How the mighty have fallen. Just a few short years ago, there was something like a 10 year waiting list for tickets, and now this. When I gave up my seats a couple of years ago, I thought I'd never be able to get seats like them again. But the ones I picked up are nearly identical, just at the other end of the stadium. It's both exciting and depressing at the same time.

Exciting because I'm going to be going to some games again, but depressing because I know they suck arse.

Oh goody. Our starting QB is out with a knee injury for an as yet undetermined amout of time, and his backup Thigpen has broken ribs.

Gee, CNN is reporting that Brett Favre may have a rib injury:

I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

I doubt the Vikings would have had him throw that block in Monday's game if he had a serious rib injury. Even without the injury, it was a stupid play (and not just because it was an illegal block that injured an Oilers player). Not sure what Childress was thinking when he called that one.

That really sucks for Cassel that this has happened, but it's kinda ironic that the QB who's career really started because of a leg injury is now out of his first season as the dedicated starter because of a leg injury. I wouldn't wish this upon any player (except maybe Farve, but that's a different story), but it is kind of strange how things work out like that.

Richard Seymour to the Raiders?

WTF?!?

Granted they'll get the 2nd or 3rd pick in '11 probably, but still an odd move. The defense was considered a little suspect anyway.

An odd move for the Raiders, not so much for the Patriots. Seymour's pushing 30 and is entering the final year on his contract, so it's likely he wasn't going to be returning to the Patriots next season anyway. Oakland will throw a boatload of money at him and he'll finish his career mired in mediocrity.

What I find strange is that the pick is for 2011, and not 2010. Maybe the Raiders didn't want to give up their pick next year? ::shrug::

I didn't notice the pick was a year off... interesting. Maybe Davis and Cable thought they'd still need next years top pick to help rebuild?

Fucking hate the current overtime format, and I'm not even a fan of either team.
Though poor kicking and coaching decisions in the 4th certainly didn't help the Titans this game...

I gave up at halftime. By the time the game finally starts after all the fluff, it's 8:45. By the time halftime rolls around it's time to get ready for bed. If they actually started at 8 sharp, I'd at least watch the 3rd quarter.
