NFL Football 2009

Having been largely out of football for the past few years, and having a terrible memory of the sport (Randy Moss was a Raider? Drew Brees was a Bill?), tell me--is it normal to have this many sketchy-to-bad quarterbacks on the field? Jason Campbell, Jake Delhomme, Kerry Collins (very arguably), the revolving doors in Cleveland and Tampa, and the man whose awfulness we all bow down to, JaMarcus Russell are all starting.

So, again--is this normal?

It seems that the Bengal's winning field goal was wide right last Sunday.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan says Cincinnati kicker Shayne Graham missed his winning 31-yard field goal in overtime last week.

APBrowns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan questions this Shayne Graham field goal.
Without any prompting, Ryan referred to Graham's kick with 4 seconds left that gave the Bengals a 23-20 win.
"You can watch the tape," Ryan said Friday. "I'm not saying anything, but man, maybe the posts were crooked. Look at it."
A video replay from an end zone camera appears to show Graham's kick sail wide of the right upright, confirming Ryan's belief. Several Browns defensive players waved that they thought the kick was off the mark.

Huh.

NFL officiating is in the shitter. They need to come up with something better; shit like this, along with spotting the ball, could be done electronically, one would think.

So the Broncos made the cover of SI this week and are wearing those god-awful yellow and brown throwback jerseys... It'll be a miracle if they don't get completely blown out by the Pats today.

The officials also missed a spot by 5 yards in the Ravens game a few minutes back. Seriously, computerize this shit already.

I can live with missed spots, but that clusterfuck of calling that happened before was unforgivable.

Someone should make sure that the ref wasn't paid off/had money on the game, or something.

WHAT A FUCKING BAD CALL!!! in the giants game.

That was bullshit.
What happened? I left for lunch, and I'm getting the impression that I missed something...

Ball got stripped before the player was down, after the giants player picked it up the whistle blew. Giant player ran it back for a (as called by the back field ref) touchdown. The TD was called back as the play was "ruled down by contact". Replays were showing he wasn't down, so the giants tossed a challenge, which was then denied because of forward motion and couldn't be reviewed. So the the talking heads replayed the play again and there was no whistle until after the ball came loose as the giants player was picking up the ball.

Bad shit bumbling call on the part of the refs. That should be reviewed big time by the NFL.

I'm still skeptical about the Bengals... but a little less than I was yesterday. 17-14 over the Ravens.

What a wild morning.

Going back and forth between the Rams and the Angels.

Needless to say, I'm much happier with one than the other...

:scream:

Although, except for turning the ball over three times inside the Vikings' 10 yard line, I thought we looked pretty good....

I made myself sad.

:(

Son of a bitch. The Denver D can't catch a break at all. They finally come to life, make 2 big stops, and the punt team makes 2 fouls that converts them both back into NE first downs. The punt return unit is trying as hard as they can to lose this.

YEAH!!!!!

Is there any question that Denver is for real?!? Any fucking question at all?!? They made all the right changes and made it a real game again. Damn straght! :D As one of Denver's early nay-sayers, this is incredible! 5-0!!
