NFL Football 2009

I gotta say, I picked the Jets to win in the pick'em league, but I was rooting for the Dolphins. A Jets loss would even their record with the Patriots (though the Jets would still be ahead of them since they beat New England), plus I hate the Jets just a bit more than I hate the Dolphins. :techman:

That 4th quarter had to be one of the most fun I have watched in a loooong time! Five TD's, five lead changes.... the winning score with six seconds to go? And that 50-yd td pass from the Michigan guy (Henne) to the Buckeye guy (Ginn) was pure pigskin perfection.

As a Fins fan this game made my day. Henne was poised, Ronnie and Ricky were beasts, and a big play from Ginn a couple of plays after he whiffed on a block for Camarillo's catch. He needs consistency to get out of the dog house though.

Some concerns, now that our Offense is starting to click our Defense is starting to look weak. The pass rush got upfield but could not consistently get Sanchez on the ground. Coverage was weak along with tackling. Pasqualoni has some work to do.

Probably one of the greatest MNF games I've seen recently.

Even though we lost (jets) I still think it was a very strong showing. I'm happy with the way the team looks this year.

Any Dolphin fans want Pennington to stay away so Henne becomes the guy? Of course, if Henne has a monster year this year, no way would Pennington get the job back.

If Rush Limbaugh buys the team, I can no longer support the Rams. And it pains me deeply, having been a fan for more than 30 years.

What if Al Sharpton wanted to become a minority owner? Would being a left-wing divisive racist be any different?

Granted, your response to Captain Craig speaks the most volume.

Agreed. It was kind of a so-so game in the first half, but the second half was really exciting. That Henne/Ginn play was awesome. Maybe the Dolphins finally have a real starting quarterback again.

Speaking of Dolphins QBs, what's the word on Pennington? Is he going to try to come back a 3rd surgery on that shoulder, or is he thinking about hanging it up?

I always kinda liked him.

I really like Pennington, because he's a sharp mind in the position where it matters most. Never blessed with the greatest physical skills, he still could play and learn. But as star-crossed as he's been, it may be time to hang it up depending upon whether he needs surgery. You can bet he has a future as a coach in the NFL if he wants it.

Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from the group attempting to buy the St Louis Rams. So rest easy digits, Rush will still only be a band to you. ;)

But on the downside of that, the Rams won't be able to debut their new third jerseys this weekend:

That'll teach Limbaugh. If you want to be a divisive, hateful racist, you need to be on the left like Al and Jesse.

actually a lot of the sports media people were saying they would have an equally rough time.

but onto other things.
how real is the wildcat as a threat.
in the second new england game last as well as the ravens playoff game and the first game of the season against the falcons it was easily handled.
the fins only got a yard out of it against the falcons.

but then it worked against the colts.

so were the colts and jets games flukes or is it for real.

why were the jets so ill prepared for it.

It was the first New England game. I still have the scars from that day.

It all relies on the element of surprise and confusion. If a team is totally unprepared for it, you can march right down the field in that formation.

If you're ready for it, its a gimmicky set up that you can stop.

I don't mind when Miami runs it, they started it and do it best, but I can't stand watching teams that run it because it's the new rave.

Rush will ALWAYS be nothing but the Greatest Band of All-Time to me.

:)

I'm glad that lunacy is over. But unless they sell the team to someone who can play quarterback, we're still in big trouble.

:scream:

Sam Bradford? Tim Tebow? It's all strategy, brother. They're positioning themselves to clinch the first round pick before mid season. Then they can relax.

I'm really hoping that Denver starts using its Wild Horses formation more often throughout the season rather than just using it as a "Well, it's a throwback game, let's use a throwback formation" strategy. It was going really well for them... the runs were going nearly 5 yards per carry and Orton was 7/7 out of the wild Horse.

It will be successful until the first defensive coordinator goes back to NFL history and looks up how defenses stopped the single wing offense in the 50s. ;)

How bout them Broncos? I can't believe they are 5-0 right now and have allowed the fewest points in the NFL. On paper it looked like their team only got worse over the offseason.
