NFL Football - 2008-09 Season Discussion

This was such a shitty weekend. The Jets and the Mets both bent over for their hated rivals and it rained. I really hate Sept.

I'm glad that the the Jets lost to deflate some of that 'team to beat' talk going around. They've got 6-10 written all over them. They really aren't that good. Plus it's always nice to see them lose to the Pats.

As for the Mets, looks mighty similar to last year. Playing out the string against teams that are long since out of it, and losing really badly. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

While I have to admit that I'm nervous every play he's run the ball, I do think McNabb's been in as good a condition as he has been in a long time.

Okay, so...

My Beloved Rams have quickly become the laughingstock of the NFL. What the hell happened?

Last year, I was willing to let it slide because of the injury situation, which was worse than I can ever remember.

But this year, there's no excuse. How can they be so awful?

The fans are booing (the ones that bother to show up), and right now it looks like we could easily go 0-16. With a healthy Bulger, Jackson, Holt, and Pace, no less.

This is going to be a long, painful season.

:scream:

Fortunately, it's the NFC West. Seattle's time is done, Arizona could revert to form, and the Niners ain't ready for prime time.

You guys should squeeze out a few division wins.

I think I'm into football a little too much. After reading this page I surfed to the New York Times and saw the headline: Throwing a Lifeline to a Troubled Giant. My first thought was that some poor football player had gotten caught up in drugs and booze and his friends were trying to help him. Then it dawned on me the story was about bailing out A.I.G. :vulcan:

I am not at all shocked that the Dolphins won, but to have won by THAT margin?!? Where in the world did THAT come form?

The Giants had me worried today, but managed to eke it out in overtimes.

I'm also pretty surprised by what the Dolphins accomplished today. Looks like bringing in Parcells and Sporano might be the beginning of a turn around for that franchise.

All in all, considering the 41-14 loss at home to start the season, the turmoil surrounding the head coach, and the number of young and new players, not a bad performance by the Raiders today against Buffalo even though they lost. The defense played well, JaMarcus threw an 84 yard T.D. pass and scored one himself. We have a stable of effective backs, a developing O line, and the defense is coming along nicely.

Bad time to fire the head coach, so thats probably what Al will do.

Buffalo is 2-0. Have they played a road game yet? I'm trying to put 2-0 in perspective.

Wow, I go on vacation for a few weeks to come back to:

--Tom Brady out for the year.
--The Niners looking like a brand new team (funny how benching a bust like Alex Smith helps).
--Green Bay able to win without Favre.
--The Falcons and Broncos looking like respectable teams, unlike last year.

Craziness.

Yay! Another Denver win! If Denver does well the rest of this season, it will have to be because their offense is able to keep them on top in games. Their defense is looking anything but respectable. They had a good run defence to start, but they got tired by the end. And they never had a pass defense. Number one concern for them should be getting their defense so they can stop the enemy and get off the field.

Number two concern should be the late turnovers in close games. That interception last week put Denver in a bad spot. The fumble that immediately followed should have ended the game for Denver. Then tonight's fumble (though I'm still convinced there was no possession) could have very easily been the game ender there as well. If Denver is going to consistantly turn over like that at the very end, their offense needs to be sure that they outscore the other side substantially or they need their defense to limit the other team's scoring at least a little bit.
