Who knows if he's really a bust though? A big loss of picks for the Niners, but hopefully he plays lights out when Dak inevitably gets injured.
I don't know, but given how many 2nd- and 3rd-day picks have been turning out into key players on teams (largely due to better scouting), the plan of trading a 4th-round pick for a QB who has thrown roughly 100 passes (over eight games, four starts and three years) and expecting him to be a solid, dependable backup seems like it might have several load-bearing flaws.
Edit: But in fairness, there wasn't a scouting combine that year because of COVID, and so there was extremely limited tape on Lance. If there's a combine, the Niners probably take Justin Fields at three if the Jets don't take him at two that year.

I've already given up on this season. It's easy to do with Baker Mayfield as your QB.

Historically, such things are heralds of dumpster seasons for them. One thing about having 17 games. It is now impossible to have an odd number of teams. 32 is a super stable number nobody wants to mess with already. But eventually sone other city will get the idea to expand.

It's been a long road getting from there to here; it's been a long time, but the start of the NFL season is finally here.
As a Colts fan, I'm not expecting a lot of wins this season - more important is that Anthony Richardson shows promise and progress as the year goes on.

Texans fan here, you and me both have to wonder about our rookie QBs this year. Before the draft, I emphatically did NOT want either Young or Stroud picked with our #2 pick. I wanted the Texans to trade down and get Richardson. LOL
Week 2 we get to see them battle each other. Texans have an injured and makeshift O-line to start the season, but we do have a couple of decent RBs, if the line can open holes for them.
