NFL 2021 season - Belichick Strikes Back

NFL expands who can wear what number:

Running backs, tight ends, fullbacks, H-backs and wide receivers can wear 1-49 and 80-89
Defensive backs can wear 1-49
Linebackers can wear 1-59 and 90-99
Offensive linemen can wear 50-79
Defensive linemen can wear 50-79 and 90-99
QBs, kickers and punters will remain in 1-19

That is going to be weird.

Chiefs trade their 2021 first-round pick (No. 31 overall), a third (94), a fourth (136) and a 2022 fifth to the Ravens for LT Orlando Brown, a 2021 second (No. 58) and a 2022 sixth.

Well it doesn't look like players are going to necessarily make a massive number change rush. Apparently if they want to switch numbers, they have to buy up all their existing jerseys with their old number that are for sale at Fanatics. So Dalvin Cook declined after finding out his bill would be $1.5 million.

Nathan Peterman can change jersey numbers for cheap. Russell Wilson, not so much.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Aaron Rodgers no longer wants to play for the Packers.

That just makes Rodgers sound like an absolute l'il bitch. I mean, god forbid a team drafts what they think could be their next franchise QB while the current one is still good. And Rodgers is getting more injury prone each year, so you never know when he'll get knocked out for half a season or more.

QB's are ego driven. This is nothing new. I do understand his frustration though with the team taking a player that can't help them for almost the entirety of his first contract if Rodgers is around. They are a legitimate Super Bowl contender and they essentially spent a first round pick on magic beans.

They better hope those beans are truly magical, because it is going to end up costing them a Hall of Famer that could easily lead them to another Super Bowl.

The Bears once again traded up for an overrated QB. This time Justin Fields. The fact he fell to #11 tells you something.

The Bears suck rocks at developing QB's, so Fields should be so-so for however many years before he's non-tendered.

I can't believe both the Bengals and Dolphins passed up OT Penei Sewell for college teammates of their QB's. Protecting their blind sides? Pfft.

Was that unknown before last week (or two weeks ago)? I mean, I didn't know about it, but I really only watch CFB, but don't follow that closely.

It said he revealed it to teams last week. So I’m working under the assumption that it was unknown publicly before that point.

Bears may have gotten a steal.

But it's the Bears, so more likely another 4 years of mediocrity.
