NFL 2019 Season

Haven’t heard of that one.

The Bears had Mahomes as #2 on their draft board but were convinced that San Francisco was going to take Trubisky, which is why they traded a shit-ton of draft capital to move up one spot. They were bidding against themselves.

Thanks. I figured it had something to do with either Watson or Mahomes. Just had never heard it described that way.

0-3 Skins...

Fucking pathetic. There’s a reason the Broncos punted Keenam. He was worthless and still is. The O-line isn’t any better, sadly. Zero protection for the QB. Keenam’s already too much of a weak link. Every play he’s running around half the field like Fran Tarkenton. Nobody can operate like that, even a reasonably decent player, which Keenam is not.

I guess this season’s done. Not as bad as Miami, but close. :brickwall:

I realize it was vs the Redskins, but I'm glad the Bears remembered how to score actual TD's.

Maybe next week they'll try going to more than one receiver (assuming Gabriel is playing).

Keenam was bad on the Rams too. I never understood the interest by other teams. Watching him play was painful.

Indeed. :(

They have a new rookie QB this year (Dwayne Haskins) as backup, wearing Theisman’s #7. Honestly kind of surprised they didn’t retire that number, but anyway... I think it’s about time we see what that guy can do now. Gruden needs to start thinking outside the box, or I suspect this year will be his last.

Is Danny the worst owner in sports?
He's up there, and he expects DC to give him a new stadium.
Jerry Jones is also considered one of the worst. There was that huge kerfuffle back in 2017 that had him squaring off against the league. Like two peas in a pod, those twats. Even die-hard Dallas fans hate his guts. Many of them don't much like Garrett as coach, either.

To this day, I still remember the time on NBC 4 in DC, where my boy John Riggins (#44) said of Dan Snyder, "this person's heart is dark". :guffaw: Nothing truer has ever been said about that son of a bitch. I miss old Riggo, from back during a time when the Skins knew true greatness. They really should have sold the team to Jack Kent Cooke Jr. instead of Snyder, to preserve the legacy. Biggest mistake they ever made. Not a single championship since that little Napoleonic shitstain took over and thought he knew football better than his own staff that he hired to build and run the team.

A perfect example of his "football prowess": RG3. 'Nuff said!

I would agree - partially - but It really was shared blame on that front. RG3 marketed himself like Michael Vick - as a QB that could do everything a QB could do, plus run his ass off for potential options galore, like none other. Shanahan built plays around that ability, no doubt at RG3's consent. For that first year, it worked, and RG3 had no qualms about crowing about his seemingly unbridled success, even going so far as arrogantly creating his own logo for marketing purposes after only one season, laughably acting like he had already achieved Michael Jordan and/or Tiger Woods-like status in his chosen profession:

Personally I like this one better for its accuracy:

There was no whining about "Shanahan made me do it" or recriminations about being forced to run his knees into the ground against his will. Then, the torn ACL + LCL happened the following year and that was it. It was almost as if Karma had her fickle little eye on him after the whole logo arrogance affair. Never mind the fact that, during college at Baylor in 2009, RG3 had a torn ACL that everyone seemed to have forgotten about (or Mr. Snyder chose to ignore when he drafted RG3) until it all went to shit.

It was no secret that Cousins was always Shanahan's boy from the start and RG3 was Snyder's, and there was a slightly-less-than-friendly rivalry between those two camps, and Shanahan was forced to play RG3 by Snyder and tried to make things work. Sure, Cousins wasn't the best, but he had a hell of a lot more longevity and a better attitude in general than RG3 ever did. It sucked to see him treated so poorly by Snyder from start to finish with that whole bullshit non-exclusive franchise tag thing and I was very sad that he left for Minnesota, but it is what it is and it looks as if Cousins has been having serious problems himself lately.

In short, RG3 was an active participant in his own downfall and Shanahan helped him get there, at his request.

I think Stephen Ross is giving both a run for their money. The man doesn’t have a clue.

I mean, if we're talking strictly NFL ownership, Ross and Snyder are up there, but Dean Spanos is also actively evil, as are Jed York, Bob Kraft and Stan Kroenke.

I'd add the McCaskeys to that list, but they're merely ignorant and grossly incompetent, as opposed to being the spawn of Satan.

Long story short is that you don't become a multi-millionaire / billionaire without inheriting it and / or fucking over a bunch of people.

Well, no shit. He was an immature kid who had succeeded, to ridiculous extents, at every level of his athletic career, going all the way back to high school. He needed someone to put a leash on him and say, "Sit down, shut up, listen and learn." Shanahan instead ran him into the ground.

...but Dean Spanos is also actively evil...

C'mon man! Dean is just a destitute billionaire looking for a handout. They should have commercials/donations for these guys just like they do Feed the Children!

On an ironic note, I think moving to LA is going to end up costing him and the Chargers more than just building a stadium in San Diego would have. The relocation fee alone is $645 million dollars.

I'd put it on Shanahan for not recognizing when Griffin was really hurt. I put it on Dan Snyder for forcing RGIII on Shanahan to begin with. But when you play a certain way starting in pee-wee ball and doing it all the way through college, you're going to have a tough time adjusting to life in the NFL. Many of these guys were "one read-and-run" guys, and it is tough to completely change them.

Interesting piece on the Chargers PSL sales in Inglewood...

The Chargers told NFL owners they were projecting to make $400 million from PSL sales in Los Angeles. That number was part of the justification for leaving San Diego, as more money was available in the the nation's second-biggest media market. After being in said market for more than a year, the franchise "adjusted" that projection from $400 million to $150 million. A little quick math shows that's just 37.5 percent of the team's initial projection. That's also $250 million that would not be helping to fund Kroenke's stadium.

I imagine that Spanos will be on the hook for the additional $250 million dollar shortfall at some point.

My coworkers talked me into a fantasy football league. Might have won last week if I didn’t totally forget I had picked Antonio
Brown until it was too late to swap.

What’s good fantasy football trash talk? “Haha, the players I picked put up more strategically impressive numbers totally beyond my control that are only indirectly tied to actual winning and losing, you SUCK!”

I’ve promised myself I won’t put any more money into it than I need to play in the work contests. BUTTT, if I happen to win money I will not take any out unless the balance ever gets to four figures.
