NFL 2018 Season

Mitchell Trubisky has been unleashed. 221 Yds, 4 TD passes so far in the first half.

The Bears' defense? Business as usual.

ETA: Add a shovel pass for TD throw #5.

They didn't go for the jugular before the half, still not a bad half. Actually for a Bears QB, possibly an historic half.

They didn't let Trubisky tie the 7 TD record. Still a hell of a game for the Bears.

48-10 and the 2018 debut of Jameis Winston.

Well, I'm glad to see that Luck is evidently back to normal, but not so glad to see that the Colts' defense is too.

Funny watching NFL Network, they can't decide whose ass they want to kiss more, Baker Mayfield or Jon Gruden.

Looks like the rumors of the Patriots' death may have been exaggerated. Again. Not to say everything's perfect, or that Miami was as great as they looked on paper, but this looked a lot more like the Patriots we're used to instead of the dumpster fire we saw the last 2 weeks. Gordon looked decent in a small sample, and can hopefully take a bigger role. Defense showed up, maybe Flowers and Chung being back helped. Edelman is back today, that can't hurt, and allows the receivers to slot into positions that make more sense for them (Hogan isn't a #1 guy, but is a sneaky 2nd or 3rd guy). Only downside was Gronk going back out with an ankle injury (likely tweak of previous sprain), but the score of the game may have been a factor in not trying to get him back out there. In fact, with this being the short Thursday week, and the Colts kinda sucking, it's possible Gronk takes the week off to try and heal up...

The Bears host the Patriots in 3 weeks. I think that'll be our real test, as opposed to @Miami in 2 weeks.

Has Brady faced a really good defense yet?

Wow, the Raiders defense got two picks IN ONE GAME. Who cares if it was against the Browns and a rookie QB, our D didn't get it's first int until something like the 10th game last season.

As great a player as Khalil Mack was for us, the defenses he played on were terrible overall. As dead set against the trade as I was (and still am), I can somewhat see the logic in it. But for that logic to continue to be logical, Mack's trade will have to lead to tangible results and only time will about that.

The fact that the Bears are looking so good, at least for now, does not bode well for the "logic" in the trade. At this point, it looks like the Raiders' picks will be better than the Bears, much better.

A lot is self-inflicted. They had 4th and inches to go at the end, and decided to punt. If they get the 1st down, they can kneel out the clock. Risky I suppose, but had a chance to win right there and needed literally 2 inches to go. Played it safe, lost in OT. Don't want to take stupid chances, but gotta be one play in the playbook that they feel ok that they can get 2 inches on, no? I don't know if the Patriots even talk about that on the sideline, Brady just does the standard QB sneak and they walk off with the win.

I'm usually for the players in money disputes with the owners, at least until they start talking...

Melvin Gordon on LeVeon Bell said:
"He just wants some security. He's got a daughter, he's got a lot going on, he's got a family to provide for," Gordon continued.

LeVeon Bell is a good player (I'm not sure he is $15 million dollars a year good) and deserves to make a decent haul based on his production, but he should have already made enough to provide for his family for decades to come. It isn't the type of comment that is going to rally people to Bell's side in all of this.

That game was looking very ugly very quickly for the Colts but Luck kept it somewhat respectable. Indy's hopes were killed by that turnover from Wilkins and the bobbled interception. I was completely aghast at the awful defense on that Brady to Gordon TD; but then again, with so many key defensive (and, well, offensive) players banged up it was a lot to expect them to keep the Pats at bay even though they did well to force a couple of turnovers in the 3rd quarter.

On to the New York Jets in week 6. Luck is playing well and he's even making Ebron a more than solid TE, but all the drops by subpar receivers (and the non-existent running game) are really frustrating. 10 day rest for the squad to get their players healthy.

Got tickets to watch the Dolphins show their collective asses in Cincy this weekend! Gonna be 90+ degrees with the heat index, god I hate the heat.
The good news is that since it is Cincinnati, there might be more Dolphin fans in the stadium than Bengal fans...
