Seahawks win their game against the Falcons with a final controversial non-call on what certainly looked like Defensive Pass Interference by Sherman on Jones. As people have said online...being able to challenge non-calls on PI would lead to even more game breaks and would be an absolute nightmare for both the game and TV viewers. Unfortunately 'thems the breaks' and sometimes the officials just don't see or call something they should have. The refs in this game seem to have more 'hands off' than usual in this game and missed a few PI calls and late hits on both the QBs earlier in the game.

While I sympathize and would be angry if I were a Falcons fan too, they shouldn't have left it down to that last play to potentially win the game. There's no guarantee without interference that Julio Jones would catch the ball, that the Falcons could have done anything in the short time left if he did. Really it was on Ryan for not running the ball when he had a clear path two or three sets before that bad pass. He might have set them in a better place for a last moment field goal, but he didn't and depended on Jones to make magic out of a bad pass.

It was a fun game to watch actually, a strong defense versus a strong offense. It's what the Broncos/Seahawks Super Bowl should have been. I'm foreseeing a Hawks/Falcons play off game somewhere down the road.

^I go both ways on that one. Obviously PI, no real question there. Sherman held his arm so he couldn't compete for the ball. If that's the rule, call it. Not a fan of the 'swallow the whistle at the end' mentality, if it's against the rules, should be the same in minute 1 or 59.

that said, they've made it too easy to get a PI call, and babied the receivers. QBs know it, and aren't even trying to get an actual catch anymore, just a call and a first down/yardage. He was double-covered, and it was right down the middle of the field. That was just 'chuck it up, get the call, and get a free play' planning, don't think Jones catching it was ever really the plan or Ryan would have looked elsewhere.

Would like to see the rules relaxed a little, and then actually enforced. Whole thing went downhill after the Colts bitched that their receivers couldn't hack it against mean Rodney Harrison and Ty Law 10 years back. turned it into a all-offensive league...

Tonight's Seahawks/Cardinals game. Oy vey. By all rights and all metrics outside of the scoreboard the Cardinals had the win. That the Seahawks defense played for nearly 2/3 of the game and nearly kept the Cardinals offense shut-down says something about the toughness of the Hawks defense. Both defenses were lights out tonight really until OT. It was almost like the game was destined to be a tie when both kickers missed their field goals. Ugh...what an ugly, nasty game. I think it may be time for the Hawks to look into getting more veteran players for the OL, and possibly a new offensive coordinator who can teach the youngin's how NOT to commit PI. They lost more yards in penalties than they ever gained! The OL has had problems for a while now and it's just reared its ugly head again.

Well Case Keenum has "helped" us to three straight losses thanks to interceptions.

Our defense gave up 10 points yesterday, and we still lost, thanks to Mr. Pick-6.

And then Jeff "7-9" Fisher comes out and says he's sticking with Keenum despite 4 INT's against the Giants. I understand not all of them were his fault, but come on. We have a bye week, which gives Goff two weeks to work with the starting offense. We gave up the farm to draft this guy, what are we waiting for? It can't get any worse.

Also Goodell
TNF is a far greater threat. They are killing these guys (faster than they used to anyway) and it is killing the game. They are tired and hurt, jerked around with their travel and practice schedule, worn out from relentless play at odd times - and the quality of the game is suffering.

Agree, TNF product is terrible. Problem is that it gives them another night of football to sell, so it's probably a huge moneymaker regardless of the crap product.

And despite my wishcasting, Roger is likely completely safe until revenue slips, and then he'll be fired. Doesn't matter how much of a buffoon he looks like, how much he makes up rules to follow or ignore at random, pretends to care about PSI but buries 20-something domestic abuse calls about one player, etc. As long as the money goes up, he'll be fine. Crazy to think someone can be THIS bad at their job and yet take home 40M a year, though!

Greed kills. :weep:

What the fuck are you talking about??

This Thursday it's Jaguars at Titans!

Way to go, Bears. Run the best quarterback you've ever had out of town because he's an easy scapegoat instead of admitting that you hired an incompetent boob to replace Adam Gase and you don't know how to build a roster.

Get fucked, Ryan Pace.

The Raiders continue to beat the teams they should beat which is what "good" teams usually do. Their two losses, (Atlanta and Kansas City) are to two teams who appear to be among the best in the league. Unfortunately, the Raiders have a chance of being that 10 or 11, or maybe even 12 game winner that doesn't make the playoffs unless they handle KC and Denver themselves. Either or both (KC of Den) could be division winner and west wildcard team.

Derek Carr threw for over 500 yards and 4 T.D.'s against Tampa Bay. Amari Cooper caught 12 and Crabtree, 8. The only thing that stands between him and elite status is a few playoff wins.

But the Raiders committed 23 penalties. That is on the coaching staff, in particular, the HC. I have never thought all that highly of Del Rio, though he has shown some good decision making this season, as well as getting his team to 5-0 on the road, but the penalties, hiring Ken Norton Jr. as D.C., continue to make him look shaky.

And win, lose, or draw, the Raiders are a fun team to watch, again.

Raiders are definitely on the 'good team' list right now, playing well. Gotta beat a couple good teams along with getting the wins against bad teams to make the next leap.

Also, just me or is the league mostly terrible this year? Seems like most of the formerly good teams took a step back (injuries, bad play, loss of players to FA, whatever), and not really anyone stepping up. I mean, can you even pick out the best 5 teams without listing at least a couple with big flaws or injury concerns? Has kind of a 2006 feel to it, where Peyton got his first ring by going up against the immortal Rex Grossman. Just doesn't feel like there's a lot out there, probably a factor in the declining ratings as well. Product kinda stinks this year.

Let me try:

1. Patriots (yeah, call it a homer pick, doesn't make it wrong): Pats are always a contender, playing well, no serious injuries at the moment, decent depth right now. Division almost locked up already, likely home field for AFC goes through Foxboro.

2. Broncos? Defense is still mostly there, Don't know that the offense can get it done. Defense can bail them out though, they did with manning's corpse last year.

3. Raiders/Cowboys/Falcons? At number 3, already not sure where to go from here. All decent or playing well, but don't believe in the falcons, cowboys are doing it with a couple of rookies and there are domestic violence issues with the star RB, Raiders are decent but not sure yet.

4. Steelers. If Big Ben is healthy again (and about half of their other players), probably as high as #2 on the list, but none of those guys are healthy, and we'll see where they are in the rankings when/if they get back.

5. KC/Vikings? Not sure where else to go, feels like a few could go in this spot and not be wrong. Point being that this is the 7/8th team named and clearly already down into the teams that aren't going to get it done or have big question marks.

Any given Sunday and all that, Giants came in as the WC team that barely made it and beat the 18-0 Pats in 2007 (ouch), but there's just a lot of middling to bad teams right now, and most aren't even fun to watch. Seems like a lot of the teams that have been good lately (Panthers, Cardinals, Seahawks, Packers, Ravens, etc) didn't show up this year, and it's more watered down as a result. Last year, NFC was a powerhouse (even though AFC won), but those teams took the biggest step back this year, so it feels like maybe most of the best teams are AFC this year, but not as strong as the NFC teams looked last year...

So, I apologize for the shitty clickbait-type site I'm linking to, but gotta question this one:

http://dailysnark.com/fans-complaining-appears-seahawks-using-deflated-footballs/
http://www.totalprosports.com/2016/...that-was-blocked-looks-to-be-deflated-pics/#5

remember that time when we cared about air pressure, teams lost draft picks and millions of dollars? Waiting to hear what will happen this time, or even that it's being reported anywhere that matters.

(huge caveat that I have no idea how legit those sites are, and could be sports versions of The Onion for all I know. Popped up in my Facebook feed, and there's at least pictures that seem pretty blatant/bad. Only watched a couple minutes of the actual game, as it's the seahawks and bills...)

Also, it was the Patriots' bye week, do we have their whereabouts all accounted for? Are we sure Brady wasn't involved? Should probably suspend him again just to be safe ;)
