And Cutler signs on to be an analyst for Fox.

How the hell did the two best free-agent quarterbacks in the last five years both go into broadcasting instead of getting starting jobs?
Money and less chance of concussion? I can't say I blame them...though I'll miss Cutler.

Oh, I've been saying for ages that I hoped Romo would hang it up before he was in a wheelchair. But Cutler could start over at least a dozen starting quarterbacks in the league, and it wouldn't even be a close competition.

He sure could, but something keeps hounding him, so it might not be worth the fight to him, both on and off field.

A cool story about the "Playoff Bowl" on si.com. I don't think I ever knew about this.

For a decade, the NFL staged an exhibition to determine third place. Vince Lombardi famously called it “a hinky-dink game,” while others just labeled it the Losers’ Bowl or the Toilet Bowl. But it still played a significant role in shaping the sports landscape of the 1960s

Preseason starts in a few weeks. My Houston Texans appear, at least so far, to be the exact same team they were last year. Really darn good defense and not much of an offense.

Redskins front office still continues to throw shade on Kirk Cousins, who is arguably one of the more stable and reliable QB's in the league. Yet they string him along on contingencies and have refused to sign him as a full member. I think we're entering the 3rd year in a row for this nonsense - unprecedented shitstickery against a really good player with the potential to be a great player. They still can't get over what a horrible decision RGIII was. I'm afraid Cousins is just going to tell Dan "Dark Heart" Snyder to go fuck himself and bolt to San Francisco (he would be justifiably well within his rights to do so). In which case, we can kiss another season goodbye before the first pre-season game kickoff whistle even blows. Colt McCoy is okay but has never been starter material. No idea who they have in the 3rd and 4th string spots, if any.

Gonna be a looooong season and a whole lot of

Tannenhill is most likely out for the season... he needs to fix that knee, so now's a better time than a few games in... and Cutler has expressed interest in playing for Adam Gase. Please, please, please let that happen.

Oh wait, Kapernick is available and the Dolphins org is thinking about giving him a try..

Ugh.

Dolphins fan here. I think the season is over now.

The season was over unless Tom Brady had a myocardial infarction. But I'm a big Jay Cutler fan, and I like the idea of him putting on the aqua marine and white for a season.

Of Jay Ajayi has a concussion, lol.
But you can't be a Dolphin fan without some blind credulity.

Cutler said his move to the broadcast booth was permanent, so I don't think he'll be suiting up for Miami anytime soon.

You might have a chance if they sign Kaepernick, although there were reports a couple weeks back that Baltimore was also interested in him since Flacco messed himself up. Not sure what's going on with that one, but he's still got some relatively good numbers out of SF.

According to Michael Vick, all he needs to do now is "cut his hair!", a comment that he later apologized for.

I'm not a fan of Cutler, but I tend to think he would be the better fit simply because he already has some knowledge of Adam Gase's offense. That's if he even wants to play.

I'm still sore over the Bears swapping him for Mike goddamn Glennon.

Actually, if he had cut the crap, he would have a job right now :D

I don't think Kaepernick did anything wrong whatsoever. Institutional racism is still a huge issue in America and particularly in pro sports.

What one does in uniform reflects on the organization of which one is a member. What he chooses to do in his free time between practices and games is his own business and I completely agree he has the right to state his views on a very real problem. However, pulling that kind of shit in the real world at any company or government agency, while on the clock and in uniform will get your ass fired right ricky-tick.

To a point. But players have gotten cut for off the field behavior, like arrests (even for things they didn't do), especially if it's a pattern of behavior. Some teams are more strict than others of course, and some teams will sign these players after they were cut by another team.
