And they'll be playing the Pats. Curious to see how bad the Sherman injury is, could be a big one if it keeps him out or limits him. Gotta give him credit for staying in and at least playing decoy towards the end, but can't start a game like that, won't fool anyone.

Guess we'll see if Brady can do better than Manning did against the seahawks. Didn't set the bar high, though. :p

What a great NFC championship game. I was pulling for the Packers to win, but man what a finish! The Seahawks showed the heart of a champion.

The Colts on the other hand, holy cow did they get exposed.

I will be rooting for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

Shocking that the Colts made NO adjustments from last time the Pats played them. Pats literally just used the same game play, and Colts did nothing different to throw them off. And got stomped. Pats likely had some wrinkles to bring into the game, and just never got to a point where they had to use them...

Well, the deflated balls helped a lot....

:p

The Colts showed up and just keeled over, which was typical for them against the Patriots and against really good teams. How disappointing.

I'm also rooting for the Seahawks, and if they play the whole game and can get some pressure on Brady, I think they'll win it. But they obviously can't spot the Pats a 16-0 lead.

Me heart goes out to anybody who wears green and yellow. Ouch. Oof. That one will sting for a while. At least the refs stayed out of it.

Eh, hard to say it mattered when they ran for that many touchdowns. Plus the Colts scored 7 total points, so even the first two were enough, no? After the refs took a ball off the field (not sure if it was to check out, or because it was a kicking ball vice a regular ball per the telecast), Pats scored another 28 unanswered points. At which point was the 'cheating' happening this time. Point out on the ball where Belichick and Brady touched you...

I mean, NFL is 'investigating', but if there's an accusation, don't they HAVE to, even if it is nonsense? They can't ignore it. Curious as to the logistics, though. You have to give the Ref all of your balls ahead of time for inspection. They then go to the ball crew, and in and out of play from there, right on the sideline. When would these balls have been doctored? And the REFS are the ones that handle each and every ball when they put them in play, they couldn't tell the difference, but they were also doctored enough to matter? Oh, and the Colts intercepted one, so apparently they didn't notice anything funny about the one they had in their hands, passed directly from Brady, huh?

Honestly, the whole thing gets old. Patriots win, must have cheated somehow. Were those formations ok? Did they give the opponent enough time to prepare? Legal balls? Maybe they filmed someone from the wrong angle? Are they running up the score? Just big meanies? Come on, guys. Seems no one can lose to the Patriots anymore without it being the fault of SOMETHING other than themselves or their opponents.

Hey, the :p was meant to convey good-natured ribbing!!

Deflated balls or not, the Pats dominated yesterday. No question.

The NFC game was great. But there were times where Rodgers could have just ran to gain 20 or 25 yards instead of making several risky long passes (that failed). I think Packers could have made a couple more touchdowns or a few field goals in the first goal, rendering Seahawks' late game rally moot.

I'm guessing he didn't want to risk his sore calf.

As for the Patriots- Whoo! tho I saw one of the refs put a ball several yards downfield from where a Colt receiver went out of bounds making it a Colts first down.

I'm guessing you don't know firsthand how much a strained / torn calf hurts.

Eh, it just gets old/tired after a while. After all, this is the second week in a row that they've been accused of cheating. Happens pretty much whenever they win these days. Hell, this one was the 2nd story on NBC Nightly News just a few minutes ago  I mean, Brady sucks, Revis is no good, we all know Gronk sucks, Belichick is an idiot, so if that group managed to beat you somehow, MUST have been cheating involved...

"NFL investigating" has become "Patriots did". NFL HAS to investigate, because there were public accusations. Looks kinda bad if they refuse to look at it. Was kinda hoping they'd announce something one way or the other and be done with this one. The balls either had enough air or not, and it was either a couple of them or the entire lot. And then is there a reason it could have happened, or on purpose. Shouldn't take weeks and interviews, seems like it's pretty much something that should have taken about an hour, no?

In general, just don't get the mindset on this one. You give the balls to the league on Friday. Refs check them 3 hours before game time, and then give directly to the ball personnel on the sidelines. In full view of the cameras and crowd from there on out. Refs handle them on every play, and replace them often. Where's the opportunity, and how come no one could tell?

Just comes off as more mouthbreathing 'derp, Sypgate' haters than anything else, but it gets old.

And for today, an even MORE over the top example of how the Patriots are cheating everyone:

http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/01/19/new-england-patriots-deflategate-bill-belichick-tom-brady

What a joke! The highlights:

-Pats installed a giant projection TV out in the parking lot that you can maybe kinda see (with binoculars, I guess) from the Pats sidelines. So they can see replays and whether to challenge stuff. Because Jim Nantz is apparently smarter than Belichick, so Bill's obviously waiting to see what Jim says first. Also, the TV is on a delay. And there are big screens IN the stadium. Oh, and half the coaching staff is up on the booth watching direct feeds plus tv feeds, so watching in the parking lot would be the LAST thing you want. But hey, cheating.

-Went over the deflation thing again, and basically how hard it would be to pull off. And that KICKING balls are the ones you really want, but those are almost impossible to get at. But hey, Belichick is a genius, so must have pulled it off somehow. And hypnotized the refs that handle them on each play so they don't notice they're nerf balls. Cheating.

Oh, and also, here's what a big deal this usually is, unless the Pats are involved (because they're overly creative cheaters):

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england...ussion-adds-context-to-deflated-football-talk Yay context!

-Doubled down on the Ravens game and the ineligible receivers 'scandal', despite NFL, and eventually even the Ravens saying it was all legal. But didn't give the Ravens a sporting chance to counter the surprise play, so cheating!

-Spygate, of course. Doesn't quite mention that it was common practice, and you COULD film things from pretty much anywhere, just the angle used wasn't legal anymore. And ignores that pretty much every former coach said it was standard (and former ones refused to come out against it when pressed, but obviously aren't going to admit to doing something Pats just got punished for). And whatever the advantage in real time was supposed to be, no one could ever figure that out. At best, it was always about trying to go back and watch for patterns later on, for future use if people aren't smart enough to change things up. But anyway, convicted, so obviously cheating.

-Apparently, opposing coaches bring padlocks so they can lock up their locker rooms when they go to Gillette (and perhaps when the Pats come to town?) so no Pats players or personnel can wander in and accidentally steal playbooks. Think they're all digital now, or mostly, but whatever. You'd think it would be mentioned if someone was wandering the building stealing iPads, no? That, and beyond extreme fire hazard to padlock your locker rooms closed from the outside. Suppose you could just use the regular lock, but Belichick can obviously pick the locks or steal a key. Because cheating.

-Pats are deep in the pockets of the NFL and the major partners, so they can get whatever they want. Apparently, he thought the CBS Scene restaurant was a secret, I guess. Apparently this leads to us not losing draft picks and getting fined when we do things wrong (apparently all the time). And we get favorable TV slots to make it easier on us, because that isn't controlled by TV contracts or something? Again, reality doesn't matter, cheating.

-NFL goes out of its way to create rules to specifically help the Pats. Rules about protecting the QB was the specific call out, but you KNOW he wanted to scream Tuck Rule too. Better counter example would have been when the Colts whined to the league (and were on the rules committee) about the DBs on the Pats mugging their WRs, so now we have all these rules about defensive holding, PI, etc and the entire league has become pass-happy. Changed because Manning was having too hard a time against the Pats defense. Doesn't matter, focus on the Pats and their cheating. Oh, and the "Brady Rule" about protecting the QB was created after the Carson Palmer injury...

Think that was the list of shit he flung against the wall. Dumb, impossible, legal, or just retreads, but he hit the high notes. Can't wait to see what the Pats cheat at tomorrow! Maybe we'll call in favors and go second at Media Day or something! It's exciting!

Great NFC championship game. Congrats to Pete Carroll, his staff, and players for having the courage and will to keep fighting until they somehow overcame their bad start.

Congrats also to the Pack, class team that just couldn't quite close the deal.

I'm really torn on the SB. On the one hand, it looks to me like the Seahawks are on a mission. I never would have picked them to return to the SB. But after surviving against Green Bay, I think their confidence has got to be sky high. Not reallly worried about Sherman's injury, as long as it's his shoulder or arm and not lower torso.

But the Pats have something to prove. Their last appearance in the SB was arguably the biggest choke in league history, given their undefeated record that year and resulting astonomic expectations. They're likely to be slight underdogs in the SB, an unaccustomed role for them, so I expect this will be a great motivating factor.

But regardless, should be a good one.

The Ravens hired Marc Trestman as their offensive coordinator.

I'm so, so sorry, Ravens fans. I hope you like screen passes.

All the screen passes.

Just to be smarmy Patriots fan: that was 2 superbowls ago. 2007-8 was the (almost) undefeated season, they went 13-3 in 2011-2012. Same superbowl opponents, pretty similar game, but 2007 is the crushing one out of the pair. And not that nitpicking it makes me feel any better, but despite the narrative that the Pats got their asses kicked, it took that friggin' helmet catch to make it a game again. The Patriots were winning that game with like 2 minutes left to play...

The line is probably about even at the moment. They were underdogs by a ton in 2001, not positive in 2003. Feels like 2004 they had to be favored, but again not positive. Definitely favored in 2007 and 2011, although 2011 was probably closer.

I will say that all the nonsense scandals and cheating conspiracies probably plays into the Patriots' hand a little. They do better with some good disrespect, no one believes in us, us vs. the world, that nonsense. I mean, 2007 was Belichick's Eff You tour of the league after the Spygate thing came out, and that worked out pretty well for 1138 out of the 1140 minutes in the season...

Good news, though. ESPN talking head Michael Wilbon says they should just forfeit their superbowl berth if the deflategate thing is true!

Not sure if he thinks that means Seahawks just win and we skip the superbowl altogether (minor financial issue there, no?) or let the Colts play despite being completely taken apart last week, but entertaining over-reaction to say the least

Yes, I'de forgotten about that second time around with the Giants. What are the odds of an organization like the Pats' with their caliber of coaches and players, losing 3 Super Bowls in a row? I would say not very high, but then I didn't think they'd lose that second one to the Giants.

Even more motivation for the Pats, I'de say. I KNOW Seattle is going to be on an emotional high, the question to me is, will the Pats be able to match that emotion? When teams get to this level sometimes emotion and desire are the only things that separate them.

I'll say this pats team has a good shot at it. Same great offense, very versatile, and an excellent defense. Reminds me of the 2003 team
