Wow. Nothing I'm reading here is making me want to lose any of my time reading these books. Between that and Before Dishonor, maybe Peter David just doesn't have the Star Trek "muse" any more?

I liked it. Like others said it might suffer a bit from middle story syndrome but it's still solid.
