Next movie - start out with Kirk exploring a "Strange new world"!

I'd like to see the next Star Trek movie start out with some planetside adventure, maybe see Kirk, Spock, and McCoy on a landing party mission gone awry, with the trio running for their lives from "new life" or "New civilizations" - that would be classic Trek!

It could have a sort of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" feel, when Indy is running for his life at the beginning of the movie, or In Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest, when Jack Sparrow is running to escape the island - could be very action packed, yet include some humour as Kirk tries to get off the planet in one piece!

Just a short little action scene that could start right in the middle of the escape, really emphasize that these guys are adventurers and space explorers!

Damn straight! Then he takes a shot of Romulan Ale and hits on a green skinned alien woman before strutting off dramatically out of scene.

If I were at the helm, I'd start the next movie with a relatively quiet scene in which the trio attends the dedication of a memorial for a number of Starfleeters killed in action by Nero, and Kirk gives a short speech in their honor.

That said, your idea ain't half bad, either.

Robau should return from the dead (kicked out of heaven, kicked out of hell - both were afraid he'd take over), punch Kirk, drink the ale and saunter off with the green Orion woman on one arm and Uhura on the other. Kirk bows to his immense superiority and hands over the keys to the Enterprise himself.

How about something along these lines.

Enterprise exploring Strange New World. Klingons show up to claim planet. Kirk kicks their asses and they leave. A short time later, they're back with friends and a war is on. Lots of shooting and such. Kirk defies orders and makes a dash to Qo'nos sto destroy their major shipyard. More shooting. Other starfleet ships join in, string pulled by Oike back at HQ. Big battle ir orbit of Qo'nos. Spock detects large energy production facility on Praxis. Knock it out and take down half the infrastructure. Kirk says "Fire everything". Something goes wrong. Praxis explodes (deja vu!). This time, however, the majority of the moon impacts the planet as one chunk. Most of the Klingons are killed. Everyone is in shock. Kirk is taken into custody along with Pike to face charges of genocide. To be continued.....

The next movie will only manage to get my attention if it begins with Kirk and Spock playing 3D chess, while McCoy watches and comments.

It should start out with a great action scene, yes, exploring a strange new world, but from a Classic episode! Perhaps the last few minutes of Doomsday Machine, or Errand of Mercy, or Private Little War. Something that would entertain audiences because of the action and execution, but would also make Trekkie hearts SQUEE to seen part of a classic story WE recognize. Then the movie can start it's own story and tell a new tale we have never seen. This would be the best of both worlds.

Edit: The last 5 minutes of Arena would be a great choice!
