News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Weren’t you the guy who claimed that they were going to make a CGI Old Prime Spock for DSC season 3, and posted a screencap of where he would be used (which turned out to be a scene from Burnham and Adira’s Trill experience?)

While I have my qualms about his reliability (see above), to be fair he specifically said that second part was a guess.

Also, I think this might be the scene where it happens. I'm not sure.

I am always skeptical about any so called inside information but @Vullein deserves credit for Nimoy's old Spock making an appearance on Discovery. The details not being right shouldn't nulify that. Unless his source is Kurtzman himself then he may not get the correct details. Also the producers probably discussed different options (archival footage, CGI Nimoy, deep fake) before settling on something, so early information won't get that right.

The thing is, once the episode title ‘Unification III’ was revealed, anyone could have guessed that Spock would be in it somehow, whether as recycled footage from ‘Unification’ or CGI/de-aging new footage like in Coming2America.

@Vullein clearly suggests in his post that Michael and Spock would interact. That obviously did not happen.

It seems plausible to me that they wanted to do more with Spock...but couldn't get it right in time or on budget. I'm not gonna beat the guy up when he's posting in the 'Dubious' thread. It seems like the place for it. Outside of this thread, he's on his own.

Me either, as a rule. I'm just saying if he's citing the Spock thing as proof of his veracity, it's not particularly strong evidence.

Forgive me if this has been posted, but has anyone shared the Season 4 Disco rumors recently posted on Reddit? I thought they had a least a semblance of a ring of possible truth to them...or at least creative effort in fabrication.

  • Season 4 will make us of a larger AR wall which has been erected in Etobicoke--larger than the Mandalorian's.
  • An early episode will involve the ship losing gravity. A set was build for a scene where gravity is reset upside down, and much of the shooting involved the cast on wires.
  • There is an episode involving a snowy planet that was filmed in a quarry in Uxbridge, Ontario. The weather was poor and there were a few injuries.
  • There's a scene in a temple.
  • Sonequa and Doug are amazing people.
I rarely put any stock in this sort of thing, but hey, it's not like we have a lot to talk about right now.

The first and last seem legit.

I don't see how Disco could pull off a
losing gravity ep (they don't have Gravity's $130-million budget).

They've already managed scenes since Enterprise long ago. And watching the making of ST'09 gave away most of the skydiving shots were just camera positioning while the actors just stood on the ground:lol:

Plus Disco has a lot of background CG on screen all the time anyway for bridge holos, so if they combine the tricks they've been using for years with that used for stuff like floating tricorders it'll look great.

Expect Michael and Tilly in helmets or something, though:lol: convincing floaty hair is still beyond even the biggest budget movies.

They don't need to be as convincing as Gravity. Just some floating people on the bridge and select other sets. And if they're using a fake background instead of the real thing, that just makes things loads easier.[/quote]

Disco s4 finale ep rumour from Reddit (take with pinch of salt etc)
-the Guardian will reappear and send Burnham back to the events of City on the Edge of Forever

-we'll see her and another Disco character interacting/hiding from events in the classic ep in a similar way to the DS9 episode Trials and Tribulations

-Kirk/Spock/Bones/Edith will be a mixture of footage from the original ep and CGI

-apparently (and this is likely to be an atom bomb for original Trek fans) the end will result in Kirk saving Edith and staying with her in the 1930s... with Burnham then taking Kirks place as Captain of the NCC1701:eek:)

IIRC, the first thing you mentioned was already officially confirmed a while back.
