While I agree that Patel probably isn't attached to the project, you seem pretty certain of the fact that we aren't getting a Khan series? I guess we'll see. All I know is, I reported in August that a Khan series is back in play, and a month later Robert Meyer Burnett confirms this news with additional info on the project.
Spock appearance happened, don't you remember? It wasn't newly recorded though.
The crossover was supposed to be Michael Burnham meeting Nimoy Spock (the one that we saw in the Kelvin movies). They planned to have a body do the acting, with their head being CGI'd into Leonard Nimoy's face.
What I specifically heard is that a Spock from the Kelvin timeline with Nimoy's face will be interacting with Burnham. It can't be a past recording, because the scene is being made by having a body double film the scene with Sonequa Martin-Green, and Nimoy's face will be CGI'd on.
