News? Stories from Dubious Sources

That guy had pretty much no credibility with me at all given he first popped up on my radar posting in the Trek Lit forum about how the Trek novels were going to go to another company who were going to coordinate with CBS on making them canon, which immediately got shot down by the actual novel authors who post in the Trek Lit forum.

CaptXaviOfEarth, I believe his name was. He also mentioned that the working title for Section 31 was Wind Cleaver, which was going to be the name for their ship which would travel through time. Utter nonsense.

I forgot about CaptX!!! He seems to have disappeared for the past 3 months.

I'll say, @Vullein has had my attention at least since January back when he was with GWW. I don't think he's fully proven himself at this point, but he definitely has me curious. And some of his more out-there rumors like the Discovery movie, "long" Short Treks movies, or a Star Trek Adventures animated series are entertaining at worst, as opposed to the hatemongers that insist with every breath that Kurtzman is fired blah blah. (And, as I think he mentioned, Chris Pine may have confirmed a Discovery movie as at least being on the table.) And when it comes to Star Trek rumors that aren't about how awful it's supposed to be doing, he's one of relatively few games in town.

I'll also give him credit for keeping going with the Star Trek articles (and even calling his site "The Vulcan Reporter" and formerly listing his Twitter location as "40 Eridani A") despite the apparent apathy of most of the people who follow him: Per a poll he ran a while back, 97% of his followers come for DC news. So he seems to be focusing on Star Trek more because he enjoys it (and claims he has easier access to it) as opposed to it really helping out his reputation that much.

So, @Vullein, as others have stated, don't feel the need to defend yourself or respond to every doubter or even to keep asking everyone to "wait and see". Once things get moving again you'll either be vindicated or disproven, but until then it's all wasted breath, so to speak. You've got at least some of us watching with curiosity in the meantime. Nice to have you here. Don't feel like you're only here to discuss rumors either; feel free to just enjoy yourself talking about Star Trek. I'm not that big on chat boards myself, but when I do chat, I go to TrekBBS.

So, that said, I've got a question:

I don't think it's a Short Treks episode anymore, (un)fortunately.

Meaning you think it's cancelled? Or turned into a series or something else?

Thank you for this. I actually got into Star Trek because of the info I got about it. I decided to watch Discovery and a few of the older shows, I fell in love with the franchise. It's extremely easy for me to get Star Trek information compared to the other franchises I talk about. This is mainly why it's pretty disappointing for me that the community doesn't trust me yet, but I understand. Happy to hear that I don't have to keep defending myself though.I love this franchise and I just want to share what I have heard about the future of it.

I, unfortunately, can't talk about this yet. I recently learned a piece of information that throws a wrench in my current Khan-related scoops. This information also isn't mine to share because, from what I understand, someone else is already planning on publishing it soon and I don't want to steal any scoops from anybody, I hope that this information is made public soon so I can elaborate on the 1992 project.

I enjoy speculating on rumours whether or not they come to fruition, so please keep posting. This is the thread for that type of discussion.

But the problem is: your info isn't all correct. Strange New Worlds will not be filming seasons 1 and 2 back to back. Discovery won't be filming seasons 4 and 5 back to back, just to name a couple.

when the info came out that Discovery, SNW, Section 31, and Picard would all be filming 2 seasons back to back there was a potential writer’s strike looming. However, a new contract was accepted by the WGA at the end of July. This could explain why they’re going back to filming one season at a time

That was not the reason given for filming seasons back to back. I think it was never gonna happen. We'll see.

Always love to hear that the fanbase is getting some new blood, and nice to hear the new shows are winning over some new fans and getting them into the classic shows. :)

Interesting.

I know I'll take Dev Patel as Khan. Anybody as Khan in a Khan series is fine with me though, just make it.

And you can share any scoops with us, we won't tell anybody. :)

Probably an utter blasphemy to ask, but why bother with all this “I have sources that claim...” stuff? If the people at CBS have something to announce, they will announce it. End of story. We’ll hear of it all eventually, so why bother going after “sources” and “insiders” who might have tiny scraps of information that may or may not be true?

Amen. I couldn't care less about the latest clickbait "rumors" and "scoops," let alone what some wacky YouTube video says.

Unless something is announced officially in VARIETY or ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY or whatever, it's just white noise --- and there's no real reason we should know this stuff in advance anyway.

And, honestly, why would any "insider" want to blab about top-secret, behind-the-scenes stuff anyway? That's grossly unprofessional and possibly a violation of their NDA agreements.

(When I was writing the DARK KNIGHT RISES novelization, I didn't even tell my friends and family what I working on; I let them think I was writing another STAR TREK book. Only my agent and my girlfriend knew what I was really writing -- because I was sworn to secrecy and I take those promises seriously.)

Exactly. I never understand the obsession with insisting upon violating NDAs to disclose this information.

I still remember this funny/frustrating moment at Shore Leave years ago when this one persistent fan was determined to get Peter David to spill some beans regarding the first HULK movie (which Peter was known to be novelizing). Peter kept patiently trying to explain that he was contractually prevented from divulging any details from the script, but this guy wasn't getting it:

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. You're not supposed to talk about it. But can you at least confirm the rumor that . . . ."

Peter was more way patient that he had to be, but, of course, refused to be coaxed or cajoled into revealing any spoilers no matter how many times this same guy kept pestering him for some inside info.

Professionals keep their mouth shuts and don't go blabbing to fan sites.

Might be announced tomorrow at NYCC - they hinted at a surprise not connected to an existing show

if that's the surprise consider me thoroughly disappointed while TWOK is one of my favorite trek movie i just couldn't give a damn about him pre space seed nor do i care about a trek set entirely on earth
