I don't think we'll get a Star Trek show in the present or past showing us things we know didn't happen...
Wait, what? They had originally wanted Benicio del Toro for Khan. Cumberbatch was available for their schedule when that fell through.they were embarrassed enough to make him white, seeing it as a problem that Star Trek's most iconic villain apparently broke the franchise's rules about positive only depictions of people of colour.
I mean, that's fair. I don't really know what to say or do against that lmao. It's easy for me to say "no they're happening" the same way you said "no they're not happening" but that wouldn't really help either one of us or really change anything.Well, a lot of things you claimed I don't think were ever gonna happen. Strange New Worlds will not be filming season 1 and 2 back to back. Nor will Picard season 2 and 3 or Discovery season 4 and 5 be filmed back to back. I don't think there is going to be a Discovery movie or a 1992 series. The Khan show is dead. The only thing not announced, but still in development is Starfleet Academy. I don't believe for one minute they are working on more live action shows than Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, Section 31 and Starfleet Academy. There isn't any room for more. Not on the schedule, not on the budget, available space for filming in the studios. We have Lower Decks and Prodigy and maybe some more Short Treks as well. And about Tom Hardy, maybe he'll be Bond, maybe not. But there's nothing official about any of that. So many sources have been saying so many things. Sometimes the rumours are right, but mostly they're not...
I don't think it's a Short Treks episode anymore, (un)fortunately. That would be really interesting. A Short Treks titled "1992," leading into a Star Trek: Ceti Alpha V series.
I'd watch.
And speaking of watching, I now have the sudden urge to watch "Space Seed" again...![]()
As mentioned by @fireproof78 they were pursuing Hispanic actors for Khan. Cumberbatch only came on board a few weeks before the start of filming.I don't think they would ever stick to established canon, if they ever did Khan again. Heck, even casting the character for Into Darkness, they were embarrassed enough to make him white, seeing it as a problem that Star Trek's most iconic villain apparently broke the franchise's rules about positive only depictions of people of colour. Forgetting that evil or just plain amoral comes in all shades. In a way, weren't Khan's band of followers intended to be a twisted reflection of the multi-ethnic makeup of the Enterprise crew... and in one way or another, that idea completely disappeared by the time they escaped Ceti Alpha V intent on fulfilling revenge.
They're fortunately looking for an actor with an Indian background. I've already heard a name, but honestly, you guys don't trust me and me revealing who they're eyeing isn't going to help with that lmaoIf the current PTB actually do get a Khan miniseries rolling for Paramount+ (as it would be called by then) I hope they'll finally consider a South Asian actor to play him.
I mean, that's fair. I don't really know what to say or do against that lmao. It's easy for me to say "no they're happening" the same way you said "no they're not happening" but that wouldn't really help either one of us or really change anything.
All I can say is, just wait and see. I hope that you will at least remember me when this stuff turns out to be true.
Also, I don't think Discovery seasons 4 and 5 will be filming back-to-back anymore. I've said so in my latest Star Trek article. I don't know if Picard seasons 2 and 3 are filming back-to-back or not.
Well, I see your point but you have to understand, from my perspective it isn't "rumors and speculation."
I have reliable sources who tell me things, and I publish those things. If you want to doubt me that's fine but telling me to stop with rumors and speculation is kinda impossible.
Pretty much anybody claiming to have "insider information."Just a precaution: Some of us tend to be highly skeptical of people who come here claiming they have 'inside information' or 'sources,' but fail to actually say what those sources are.
I understand that but I'm not going to tell you who my sources are. It's kind of disappointing because I was told there were a few insiders here, which is why I joined, but now I see this community is like the rest of the Star Trek community. Absolutely terrified of leaks, presumably because of the Fandom Menace type coming up with fake bullshit about the shows being canceled or whatever.Just a precaution: Some of us tend to be highly skeptical of people who come here claiming they have 'inside information' or 'sources,' but fail to actually say what those sources are.
I never said you were, but I don't need to prove anything either. Like I've said previously, we'll just have to wait.
I don't think we should act like the Star Trek community isn't more skeptic of leaks than most communities, though. Especially this place. It's whatever, it's understandable, but you have to understand where this all puts me. I don't expect any of this to change anytime soon though, which is why I've been saying that we should all just wait and see that all of my info will turn out to be correct.
