New Voyages-"World Enough"

Re: New Voyages-"World Enough" is More Than Enough....

Watched it three times so far...

Outstanding script and writing!!!

I think someone else has already said it, but Christina Moss stole the show. And I'm sorry that Julienne Irons is leaving as Uhura...damn she was HOT looking in the sickbay scene.

Any solutions for those of not savvy (or patient) enough for th torrent?

A direct download perhaps?

I can't get the torrent to work

I feel your frustration.

The best solution I found was to use the Opera browser. Opera is free and a relatively small download. It also as someone pointed out has its own torrent program, so all you do is open the blog page from the browser and click on download.

when the file finishes downloading, double click on it.

I just saw World Enough And Time for the first time...

WOW...

WOW!!!!!

Trust me folks, it takes a lot to impress me.

This plays out just as well as an original series episode. The acting is top notch from everyone involved, and the production of course is supreme. I can't believe how much the entire cast has matured into their roles.

George Takei's performance was admirable. What a pleasure it was to watch him play the role once more, and this story added so much personal depth to Sulu that I feel was missing before.

Christina Moses's Alana Sulu is someone anybody could fall in love with. Great supporting character work!

Thank you so much New Voyages cast and crew. I was wildly entertained and "on the edge of my seat" so to speak, the entire time.

Someone get these people a multi-million dollar grant so they can produce on a weekly basis! More!

I gotta say, as my first experience with a torrent DL, that whole system seems pretty stupid. Instead of just downloading the file you want, you download a file that then tells a proprietary new program to download the file you actually wanted in the first place?

Why not just let us DL the file we want?

Needless extra step, needless extra program. Which doesn't work for me anyway.

Part of the idea is that while you're downloading, you're also sharing part of the upload to other people. Distribution is delegated to an ad hoc network of computers rather than just a single machine that might become overburdened by requests and crash or significantly slow down.

And it's not a proprietary application either -- the original bit torrent application is open-source, and the protocol is totally open and available for anyone to implement.

Torrents are better for really big downloads that you leave running for a long time gradually, rather than leaving your computer overnight downloading from one server.

On topic, however, WEAT was fantastic!

Loved it, of course. The only reason this doesn't quite make it into my personal Trek continuity, despite being really good, is a slight but retroactively important contradiction of a cheerful delivered-with-a-big-smile throwaway Sulu line in TWOK, set many years later: "I'm glad for any chance to be back aboard the Enterprise!"

But--if the Enterprise was the place
where your beloved daughter died
, would you really be happy and eager to visit it?

Why not? I'd imagine Enterprise is as much a home to Sulu as any place and people return home all the time and I can't imagine they're free of similar memories. You might just as well ask why he enjoys Kirk or Spock's company since they are some what to blame for the outcome...

Consider that there are people who spend their lives going back to homes they've lived in decades earlier, just to see it again, knowing they can't stay. They remember the good and the bad, and yet, they seek their homes as if on a quest to relive what was good again. The Enterprise is home to Sulu, and the chance to return home again would probably make him feel content.

Just curious about when "Blood and Fire" will be released. Any info here?

Omigod. What a fantastic episode. New Voyages has definitely kicked it up a notch--hell, a whole shuttlecraft full of notches. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. Now I really can't wait for "Blood and Fire"!

Haleluja, my sixth attempt at the torrent download finally fucking worked.

Now if only I could get the damn thing successfully burned to a DVD that my TV player will accept.

Technology hates me.

It's funny that you say this judging by your name "Forbin" and the "Colossus" avatar. :p

Re: New Voyages-"World Enough" is More Than Enough....

BTW, I noticed that WeaT is on Stage6.com in 2 locations, one of which is the above posters (see siggy link ^). I would hope that Trek1701 is suppling view and download numbers to the NV team so they can keep track :)

Stage6.com has, by far, the best quality of any video site, you do need a divx pluggin but it is provided and not hard to install. It has no limitations on video size and length so you tend to see alot of TV episodes and even whole movies on there.

According to TrekMovie.com: " Another change for STNV is the plan to start putting out episodes at a faster rate. Currently the goal is to have both parts for "Blood and Fire" (Episodes 4 and 5) out by this holiday season - only a few months after the recent premiere for the third episode ("World Enough and Time").
