New Voyages-"World Enough"

At the 15:24 mark...

My best recommendation to everyone for the moment is the small Flash format. Start the movie, then pause it immediately. Allow it to chug away downloading.

OK, 1 percent downloaded-- 99 percent of Sulu on the wall, 99 percent of Sulu. If one of those packets should happen to fall, you'll have to start over again.

Actually it's possible to download it at any time.

For quicktime (mp4) version: (Link removed)

And for Flash (flv) version: (Link removed)

You guys need to read more the "source code" of sites. :p

That was the angle I took, too ... so far, 21.4 Mb in 2 hours :wtf:.

Good-looking Rommie ships, but ...

Yes, I found that too earlier tonight, I told them about that and other security issues i found. Even if you try do download any of those you are on going to get about 5-8 kps (dial up speed) that is how much the server is hammered. They are putting up another much faster server to mirror i can see they are still uploading some of the files.

As for the episode itself it was great, very powerfull, wonderful acting and effects, just awesome IMO.

5 to 8 kps is exactly what I am getting. I just wish I could have viewed the streaming. I work a second shift.

The mirror server is faster just not sure when it will be 'officialy' up and running.

Ah, great. I'll wait for the mirror access then. I've ended my present d/l attempt, sloooow.

Thanks, FleetLord.

I am using a secret trick to download at 93k/sec.

Yippppeeee...

Just finished watching World Enough and Time. After reading all the horror stories of folks trying to stream, I logged onto their site, clicked on the small flash, and just left it to stream. Several hours (and several completed household chores) later, I got to sit down and watch a real live, honest to god episode of Star Trek!

I have been critical of the NV team before. I was less than impressed with Come What May, enjoyed In Harm's Way for what it was (and embarrased by it as well, WAY too fan wank for me) and dug To Serve All My Days (but wish it had served the fans more than it did Koenig's need to have closure.) I cried foul over James Cawley's hair, complained about less than stellar acting, hated the cinematography and editing, etc, etc... But, with their fourth installment, I think they've done it. I felt like I was watching Classic Trek tonight. With their limited resources, they created an excellent hour of Trek, and hopefully they'll get around to releasing a high quality, downloadable version in the near future!

First off, the writing is stellar. It's Sulu's story front and center, but it's also a poignant Kirk tale as well. It utilizes all of the characters well and takes its time to develop. The direction is the best yet, truly on par with professional television. Marc Scott Zicree deserves kudos and more directing gigs!!

George Takei... words can't describe. I never thought Sulu would bring me to tears. His performance is incredible. Christina Moses is a a treasure and an incredible find. The two of them have great chemistry together. The FX, for a no budget, fan produced endeavour put Enterprise to shame! The virtual sets, the shuttle fly through in the shattered BOP, amazing.

But, my surprise is the NV cast. All of them truly stepped up! James Cawley makes James Kirk his own. His scenes with Christina Moses are very good, he flawlessly exudes Kirk's charm, keeps his performance understated and subtle for the most part. He reminded me of Shatner's portrayal of Kirk in TWOK, not over the top, but measured. I have no problem thinking of you as Captain, Mr. Cawley. Fine job!

Jeff Quinn continues to improve his performance of Spock. I am sad to see he won't be in the next outing Blood and Fire. James Kelley is a good Dr. McCoy, better than he was in To Serve All My Days. Sill some room for improvement, but getting there.

John Lim is excellent as Sulu. He steps up his game to perectly compliment Takei's portrayal. I believed he was the younger Sulu.

Andy Bray is back as Chekov, unfortunaely with little to do (not that the story needs a strong Chekov presence,) Uhura gets to do more than say "Hailing Frequencies Open," with a touching scene.

Charles Root as Mr. Scott... I'm going to take a different approach than other reviews I've read online. Yes, I am aware Mr. Root posts here, but still, the man put in work to bring us Scotty and it serves nothing to sit here and bray "You suck!" Which he doesn't, BTW, but I will be truthful and say I'm not feeling his Scotty here. What I thought was missing was Scotty's feelings towards the crew. Case in point, the transporter room scene where he's trying to rescue Sulu. Scotty would have been more determined, more emotional I think with Sulu's life in his hands. Scoty always understood and felt the consequences if he wasn't able to pull off a miracle, and that always showed in the character. That's what I think is missing from the performance and I offer this as a critique that could assist Mr. Root in his future performances, if he so chooses.

I am really looking forward to Blood and Fire (great preview!!) CBS/Paramount needs to seriously consider backing the NV team financially and with distribution. They would make a killing off of these (I'd pay 2 bucks for an Itunes download) and keep Trek alive until the Abrahms movie comes out. (Plus, we could get a NV ep once every month perhaps?!)

I hope they improved the sound which was a very big let down and sounded very amteurish home recording sound.

Regarding you idea to get CBS to formally back them could you arrange to have a meeting with CBS and present your/our case to them?

No point writing just on a BBS board.

You could meet up Mr Cawley and others, even Mr Nimoy and other influential people and make a formal presentation after doing your financial homework.

This could give you a footnote in history and all of us more episodes to be produced.

Win-Win for everyone.

What do youand others say.

Or start a letter writing campaign.

I started the small flash and let it download while I slept. I was finally able to watch WEAT. First let me say this was a bad way to debut and I hope they reconsider this method in the future. On to the show...

Cawley's acting has visibly improved and seemed more natural over all. However, I found the human story and the tour scene in particular to fail in part because it lacked the nuance and charisma Shatner brought to Kirk. I'm sure Cawley will continue to improve and after three episodes of STNV and guest spots on Farragut and HF, he's finally raised his game and not too soon. Good work, James.

George Takei was often excellent and gave much more dimension to Sulu than he had opportunities for over the years. Both he and Grace Lee seemed more at ease than when they stepped into the roles for "Flashback" on Voyager.

Generally the effects were much improved and other than nitpicks about the Excelsior bridge "set" (where was seanr's bridge when it was needed) I didn't find myself too distracted.

Charles' Root wasn't as passionate, as emotive, as Scotty is known to be. I presume he'll improve. Uhura's scene was a distraction from the main story and seemed to exist just to give the actress something to do. Overall, I thought Act 1 was the best.

On the preview of "Blood & Fire" the new Spock gives me pause but Bobby Rice is fantastic.

Can't wait for more.

i really enjoyed it, excellent from start to finish,

Come on CBS put some of the advertising money from trek XI into this, it would be the best promotion for the film you could do.

roll on Blood & Fire.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved, I saw a new episode of star trek today :)

Trying to download the file this morning... snoozing along at dialup speeds... Good grief....
