New Voyages/Phase II Appreciation Thread

Thought it might be nice to start an appreciation thread that focuses on the many wonderful creations which have been developed by the New Voyages/Phase II team.

These productions have evolved over the past few years, and each raises the bar one step higher. (Although some will argue that World Enough and Time is better than To Serve All Of My Days we can likely agree that both are high quality fan films.)

I have enjoyed watching (and re-watching) all of these productions and have very much appreciated the New Voyages/Phase II Team's efforts to keep Star Trek alive through fan films. New Voyages/Phase II definitely filled the void during the very "dry" years between the end of Enterprise and the release of Trek 09. I hope that Phase II will continue to make many excellent productions well into the future! I can't wait for Blood and Fire - Part 2, Enemy: Starfleet, and Kitumba!

This fan appreciates your passion for Trek and your countless hours of volunteer work -- thank you!!

Count me in.

I'm always eagerly anticipating the next release from the Phase II team, and I agree that the production values, effects, acting, and all other aspects of the shows consistently improve from one installment to the next. My favorite part of the Phase II experience is the INCREDIBLE attention to detail...it truly "feels" like a continuation of the original Star Trek.

Here's to a speedy release of Blood and Fire part 2!!!

Beat me to it, I was just coming to start a thread like this after the crap that those two other threads closed.

I love New Voyages, I wish I had half the heart and talent these guys put into their show.

I can't wait for Blood and Fire Part 2.

I really appreciate the work of the New Voyages/Phase II team. Their love of Star Trek is evident, the episodes just get better and better, and how could anyone complain about the people who are going to give us Kitumba, for crying out loud?

I trust the Phase II team more that I ever trusted Rick Berman, that's for sure. I hope they keep doing what they do for a long time to come.

As we put finishing touches on the special effects for "Blood and Fire, Part 2," we're still looking good for a release sometime around Labor Day--about a month away. A lot of our team will be busy at Dragon*Con that Labor Day weekend, so we probably won't release it the very same time most of us are out of town unable to deal with technical issues if they crop up. But it'll probably be released shortly after that.

Also, a pretty-well completed version of "The Child" will be shown at Dragon*Con even though we shot "Enemy: Starfleet" before "The Child." Jit's just one of those odd things that "The Child" is nearing the finish line sooner than "Enemy: Starfleet" is. But like I think I've mentioned, we'd probably hold off releasing our follow-up episode to "Blood and Fire, Part 2" for a couple of months to allow the smoke to clear a bit. So that lag time might be enough time to get "Enemy: Starfleet" finished which would permit us to release the episodes in their actual production order.

And there is, of course, great overlap between our Phase II team and our Buck Rogers Begins team, and we are all hard at work getting ready to start shooting our first Buck Rogers segments in a month or so. Buck is shaping up to be a fun production.

Thanks for the nice comments about our productions. The nice comments are pretty much why we do the episodes. It's not like we can make a dime off the Paramount/CBS property that we have no rights to whatsoever, so its the nice comments and pats on the back (and things like Hugo Award nominations and our ever-increasing viewership numbers) that keep us going when our team starts running out of steam a bit.

Sounds pretty exciting for STP2 for the next year or so, There should be about 4 episodes in the next year or two, when there were only 3 episodes after the first 4 years or so of the project.

I've always said that New Voyages/Phase II is the gold standard to which all other fan projects struggle to reach. I am looking forward to seeing "Blood and Fire" and all the episodes that are coming down the pipe.

I'd love to, but it's a long way from Scotland.

We generally have a contingent of folks join us from the UK for each shoot. We often have a bunch of people from Spain as well. And then there's our crazy Australian who always manages to show up.

So it's pricey and time consuming, but it can be done.

Yeah, but they got super money in Europe and Australia. All I got are these ordinary American dollars.

I have to admit when i first heard of new voyages i was sceptical that it would be any good. but I have to say i was surprised and thrilled as to how good they are. looking forwards to more great episodes.

Man, I gotta go get me some of that at lunchtime.

I have been making do with normal money up till now. :klingon:

I love the special effects and especially the bridge set. I grew up watching TOS re-runs and seeing the Enterprise bridge from those times just takes me back to my youth. It's absolutely perfect.

Great job by all those involved.

Walter Koenig, George Takei and so many other Trek personnel seem to agree that Phase II is the continuation of TOS.

I never anticipated more TOS-era Trek. I was excited when I first found Starship Exeter. Original-era Trek, wow! Fans can do this?!?

Then I was blown away when I found New Voyages and discovered they weren't making Original Era Trek on some other ship, but they were actually doing the fourth season of the TOS!!!! I was blown away by their work. Even now I can hardly believe what the Phase II team is accomplishing.

We've got some exciting months ahead as the latest episodes come out. The Trek experience I had as a kid, I'm experiencing again, but sharing it with my own kids this time!

Thanks to all the Phase II crew, we have Trek once again!
