This looks interesting:

"Return to Tomorrow: The Filming of Star Trek: The Motion Picture," from author Preston Neal Jones and publisher Creature Features. This "long-lost" 672-page book will provide an oral history of the film compiled from interviews with 60 of the film’s cast and creators, conducted as The Motion Picture was being prepared for release.

The source material for "Return to Tomorrow" was originally intended for publication by Cinefantastique magazine in 1979, and author Preston Neal Jones was given unparalleled access to the cast and crew of the film. However owing to the late completion of the film and ambitious scope of the manuscript, it was never published—until now. According to the publisher, the entire manuscript has been "laboriously fact-checked" for release in book form.

I wound up only buying one copy. Had spent two bucks to buy a 2004 cd of shat's TRANSFORMED MAN still in shrinkwrap earlier today, so my treksplurge (neat looking word, that) stayed under $40.

I figured I could sell the Shatner CD for $20 and have nearly enough to buy a second copy, but a part of me thinks these 1000 copies are going to be gone in 60 centons.

Then again, there's also my experience with THE MAKING OF THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, a book I expected would be a total keeper, that I found to be an immense waste of over 30 bucks and a considerable disservice to the memory of a movie I very much enjoy. I expect much more from Mr Jones (had just read the decaded-old FILMFAX review of his NIGHT OF THE HUNTER book two days ago, which was an unqualified rave), and was thinking of picking it up when I happened upon this glorious news.

For once, I'm thinking I'm not going to be reading with an eye toward catching all those goofs, because I don't think I'm going to find (m)any.

On the assumption that you live in the United Sates, kindly spare a miniscule thought for those of us who reside overseas and are therefore reduced to using extortionately expensive outfits like Reship.com when dealing with scumbag eBay and Amazon Marketplace vendors who refuse to ship outside of the US.

The shipping cost within the US is considerably less, and if that were the price to Canada, I wouldn't complain.

Apparently on creaturefeatures.com, domestic shipping is $13.00. Still much higher than I'm used to for shipping a paperback book, but better than what confronts our international friends.
