New trailer poll

One thing that I noticed was that the Enterprise did not seem to be under construction anywhere in the vicinity of San Francisco... that is, unless desert wastelands have sprung up in the San Francisco area by the 23rd century...

Uh, Global Warming....Duh! Al Gore was right it continues all the way into the 23rd century.

It was solid. Got me interested in watching more Trailers. I think they could have done a lot better with kid-Kirk and Robocop though.

With all of the talk on the boards, I thought it would be interesting to have a poll to see where people are in reference to the new trailer.

I loved kid Kirk. did anyone notice that when the chase started with the cop, Kirk's corvette had the top on, then what seemed like a few seconds later the top was either down or gone. So we start with a bit of discontinuity. I loved this trailer. It is extremely appropriate.

The trailer didn't do anything to add to my interest in seeing the film. It looks like a good big budget scifi movie, but there's nothing that really says "Star Trek" to me beyond some surface details. However, I'm sure it was geared towards the non-Trek fan, so that's not surprising. I'm still cautiously optimistic about the movie, but the trailer hasn't enhanced my anticipation any.

That's practically word for word what I was going to say. I have to admit, this left me a little cold, but I understand the idea of appealing to the general audience. From a Trek perspective though, I was more excited by the Star Trek Remastered trailers a couple of years ago. I'm still going to be pre-booking my tickets though. Shouldn't be hard as I think I'm the only fan in my town :shifty:

There has never been a trailer that has gotten me more excited for a movie than this one. And this trailer is what pushed me from, "It looks decent enough... I guess there's hope for a young Kirk & Co movie" to "I will be there, and I will be there opening night, even if I have to fight a small child for the last ticket."

The simple truth is, if it was the last ticket, I'd kick that small child in the face kirk style. :techman: and then I'd fight his father who'd more than likely have boot polish on his face in an attempt to look like a TOS Klingon.

"Hey little kid! I! HAVE HAD! ENOUGH! OF YOUUUUU!"

I fully encourage this type of behaviour! :klingon:

Just seems like the movie is trying to hard to be more like SW rather than ST.

No one talked about 'The Force' or mediclorians or was wielding any light-sabers, there was no heavy breathing (well except maybe in the Kirk/Orion-Girl scene)...

How is this film 'trying too hard to be more like SW'?

You may find my lack of faith disturbing. My opinion based on the trailer, really isn't good. Annoying delinquent tweenie Kirk, then CG ships zipping around the screen at epileptic fit enducing speed, more than a whiff of Phantom Menace there. A bunch of precautious Dawson's Creek wannabies on a bridge which resembles a dental surgery. Pegg's Groundskeeper Willie accent for comic effect. I may or may not be won over by the finished film, which I'll obviously see at some point (whether it's at the cinema, on DVD or a few years later on TV).

I do not think it looks like Star Wars at all. Just because it has action, which most of the trek films had some form of action, dosent mean its star wars. Besides, its a teaser trailer. Of course it will show the action more. Wait till the full trailer.

I "got a bad feeling."

It's pretty obvious this film is (Not so?) boldly going where every other mediocre contemporary sci-fi action movie has gone before.

What in the hell happened to seeking out lifeforms and civilizations?

Because all the trek movies were about seeking out lifeforms and civilizations.

Annoying. How is he annoying?

Yeah?
It's a fracking scifi-movie.

Have you seen the picture of the young William Shatner? He was quite handsome in the beginning of TOS.

Yeah, it's white...

So much more worse than Doohan's fake accent.

Yeah. Say hello to your friends when you stand in line on opening night.

I think you just made my point for me. Thanks. :techman:

I didnt say any of the movies weren't about seeking out lifeforms and civilizations. Just not all of them were about that. I think star trek 5 and Insurrection somewhat could fit in the that category of seeking lifeforms and civilizations. And i am stressing the word "somewhat". Oh and guess what, those movies was not know for being the fan favorites. Granted the new movie shouldnt be about all the action, which i think it wont be. If you look close enough in the trailer, it only seems to be about 2 to 3 different action scenes. Pretty sure it wont take up two hour movie. I could be wrong tho.

The last film I saw in a cinema was Nemesis back in January 2003. No word of a lie. I won't be seeing this film, because no film since has tempted me back in line. I was kinda hoping this would be it. Sadly not.

You just carry on mocking anyone who doesn't see things your way... but does you the courtesy of elaborating. You won't be able to keep up with them by May.
