New Total Recall movie - Will it be a winner?

The original is a classic but I'm still willing to give a remake a chance, particularly if they seem to be taking a different slant on the source material. However, the choice of the bland Len Wiseman as director doesn't fill me with confidence.

Yeah, it seems a little weird to remake a hit movie made by two people who were right at the top of their game (Verhoeven and Arnold) with a "B" list director and a star who has never been able to generate hit movie on his own during a fifteen year career. (Not a slam on Farrell, BTW, just noting that he seems to work best as a character actor despite his leading man looks)

That being said, there always have been-and will be-remakes and I can't get too upset about them. I generally just ignore them and figure they'll succeed or fail on their own merits, even if I may occasionally wonder (here or privately) 'what they were thinking.'

My favourite PKD story is Galactic Pot-Healer, which would probably be a bugger to adapt for film.

Not to mention that--right or wrong--too many people would hear that a sci-fi movie was coming out about a hero whose "power" was fixing pottery, set in a future dystopia, and think "that's the dumbest thing since 'the Postman.'"

Yep. Perhaps some stories are best left on the printed page (or e-reader). Any depiction of the Glimmung on screen couldn't do it justice.

This is often the same with superhero movies. The image of Wonder Woman flying around in her invisible plane is one that would not work in any form.

Unless her clothing was also invisible, in which case -.
