I don't think many people here were defending the idea of watching TOS on old film on a black and white TV with rabbit ears....it was just the idea that DVD wasn't good enough.
(like mine..NTSC NBC broadcast at the time was 410 lines vertical and 480 horizontal while interlaced on our 1966 19" Vistacolor RCA TV..local re-run broadcasts were actually worse due to the limitations of equipment used and deterioration of the film stock)
Nearest thing I can see to that experience would be a VCR tape attached to an old TV from that era..say 60's to early 80's sets..no digital tuners, no composite inputs, no stereo, just 1 speaker folks.. even using coax would be cheating..2 wire signal transmission to the tuner would be the most authentic..
If anyone is using a DVD player with a 480P input to your digital TV.. It's not original.. it's far better than original..
and if you upconvert?...damn if it just looks great..
and yes one can see the wires..
but I watch old Godzilla movies too...
They really don't bother me..
Instead of surfing the net for porn, we sat for hours in front of the wibbly wobbly movie channel that didn't come with our cable package hoping to just make out the occasional nude.
Hey, if it was good enough for Laurence Fishburne...I also noticed that Daystom is "The King of Cartoons" from "Pee-Wee's Playhouse". Wow, his career really took a hit after the M-5 failure!

Sorry, but Little Green Sprout nails this scene firmly in the 70s.a little more help..

Sh*t, finally someone else admits to doing it, too.Instead of surfing the net for porn, we sat for hours in front of the wibbly wobbly movie channel that didn't come with our cable package hoping to just make out the occasional nude.
Too true.

I just watched Immunity Syndrome this weekend, but didn't notice Kyle's shirt color change.
BTW, some people complained that the PQ in season 2 isn't as stunning as season 1 on Blu-Ray. We know that the production values were a little lower in season 2. However, I found the PQ in Immunity Syndrome to be very impressive - probably the best of any season 2 episode I've seen yet.
And, although I've been enjoying the new effects, I found I like the original effects better on this episode.

I agree - loved the "Enterprise in the dark" shots, but apart from those, the original effects beat the CGI hands down.
The CGI continues to be a mixed bag for me, but the incredible picture quality is well worth the upgrade to Blu Ray.
Personally, I haven't noticed any drop off in quality between seasons 1 and 2.
