New Torchwood series confirmed - official

I can't believe he said the portrayals of gays is much stronger in American TV, and used Glee as an example... Kurt is such a stereotype, and he's a virgin with no boyfriend, not exactly a good example.

To be honest, I thought Chldren of Earth was pretty final. But whatever, nothing is truly final in sci-fi I guess.

Seems like it could be interesting, but at this point there is practically nothing said about it.

Obviously Captain Jack is going to be returning to Earth, and obviously is going to be reunited with Gwen and they'll be making some new friends.

Didn't they just change UNIT's name to Unified Intelligence Taskforce after they whined about it?

Hooking up with one of the premium US channels is about as good as it could get for Torchwood I would think. At least, I don't think they will try to tone it down, if anything, Starz might want them to jack it up.

It should be interesting, Starz has only just started to dip their toes in the water when it comes to original programming, certainly compared to HBO and Showtime. They haven't really had a huge hit yet so they might let RTD at it without getting in the way too mcuh.

I'm glad it's coming back, but now that Starz got the US rights I won't be able to watch it. Now I know how people without BBC America felt when it got Series 5 DW rights instead of Syfy.

Hopefully SPACE here in Canada will still be able to pick it up when the time comes.

It could still show up on BBC America after Starz has the first run like the BBC does with Ashes to Ashes. BBC America is still airing series two of A2A while series 3 on BBC in England is over.

Indeed, which seems completely stupid, IMO. The UN didn't care about being depicted as easily being duped by the Slitheen into authorizing a nuclear attack, but showing a top-secret alien-fighting military organization within the UN is taking things too far.

Of course, what I don't get is the UNIT officer in Children of Earth even says he answers to the United Nations, and no complaint was made there. So if the Unified Intelligence Task Force still answers to the UN, then why would they change their name from United Nations Intelligence Task Force. Within contunity, I mean.

My guess is someone at the UN just doesn't like Doctor Who. Why else worry about UNIT when they clearly don't mind chanting "so say we all" in their meeting hall.

I am wary of Torchwood becoming less British in terms of production if its trying to become a more global show but after COE I want more Torchwood :)

I would assume to try and get new fans they would make standalone episodes mixed with arc episodes. Personally I would kick things off with a 2 parter then have 5 standalone episodes and then a 3 part trilogy episode to end the season/series.

They've already said it'll be 1 story for the season.

Man that's gonna be a really short story ;)
It's all the have the budget for with the international filming.

Starz is a premium cable channel so I'd assume it's be over 50 minutes per episode.

Not four and a half minutes per episode then? Sorry you put 4.5. Oh I'm so not as funny as I think I am...(don't all rush to agree with me please)
Yeah, I was joking, Taking your idea that it might be 45 minutes per episode and making it a 45 minute series.
