New to Twitter. Have question.

I just joined Twitter last night and immediately there were several, I assumed, "suggestions" for who I should follow. I rejected all of them. Well, this morning I find stuff from them on my page as if I'm following them (I'm still figuring out the terminology). For example, I rejected The Onion, but I have stuff from the Onion this morning. Also, some people are able to connect themselves to me without my permission. I went in and blocked some of them, but there's one person that no matter how many times I click "block" I can't get rid of them. How do I solve these problems?

I'm not quite sure what you mean . . . you can't unfollow some people? or you don't want people following you?

Clicking block should stop them from following you.

You could make your tweets private. That would prevent anyone who you are not following from reading them.

When I log on to my twitter account, there are posts from some woman that I don't know. I don't "follow" her, I don't know who she is, her posts just showed up on my page. I don't want to follow her, I don't want her to follow me. I want her deleted or blocked or whatever I can do to get rid of her. I keep clicking on "Block" but I keep getting new freaking posts from her.

I just signed up last night and I have all these posts from Al Gore, The Onion, and other things I don't want. I thought I removed them last night, but their posts are back on my page. How do I get rid of them?

Is "unfollowing" different from "removing?" Because I'm only following five people but I'm getting posts from a lot more than that.

I'm not sure what you mean... I don't know of a "remove" button, just block and unfollow. Unfollow means you'll stop seeing someone's tweets on your home page.

If you click on the word "following" you go to a page of all the people you are following. On that page is also the option to remove them. To the right of each person you are following is a button that says "Remove." I've removed several people, including algore, The Onion, and several others, but I'm still getting stuff from them. Is there an "unfollow" button somewhere?

You say you're still getting stuff from them. Is it new stuff AFTER you've removed them or is it just old stuff that's still there?

I removed them last night and I'm still getting stuff from them in the last ten minutes. Many of them are "suggested" people I should follow that Twitter "suggested" to me when I started the account. I rejected all of them, but am still getting stuff from them as of a few minutes ago.

Well then it sounds like you've got a major bug going on with the Twitter program. I'm not a Twitter expert by any means and barely use it, but if you've removed them, that should have been it. You can try tech support with them but my experience is that won't do you much good.

Wish I could be more helpful.

And all these frakkin' posts have completely run the posts from people I actually want to get them from off the page. So, now I only see the crap from people I don't want and not the stuff I want to see from people I actually want to follow. It would be absolutely stupid for users not to be able to delete whatever posts they want from their homepage. Am I able to delete these unwanted posts?

Twitter is just frakked up right now. I went in and tried to remove a follower. It said it did it, but when I went back to the home page, they were still there.

Check your list of followers and see if the unwanted people aren't still listed there. Like I said, it's messed up. And honestly, from what I understand, that's not an uncommon occurence. But it's free, you get what you pay for I guess.

Twitter appears to be crap. The little research I've done about their customer service is a lot of people saying there is no customer service and have "unfollowed" and "blocked" people months ago and they still show up. Also, the posts from The Onion, Al Gore, and other unsolicited people clutter up my page and I don't even get to see the people I really follow. So, I'll probably delete my account.

Well, apparently the entire country of Iran is using it as part of their election protests.

Twitter wanted to shut down for some maintenance, but the State Department asked them to hold off since it's one of the few uncensored platforms the Iranians have direct access too.

So you know, that might have something to do with the bad service this week.

And yes, Mistral, I guess that makes the Iranians who want a fair government "Twits."

Yeah, I suspect this has a lot to do with it. Twitter can overload in heavy traffic, and the Iranian election has been generating a TON of traffic.
