My opinion: it looks like a lot of fun!
Eh...not much to go on. Could be good. Could suck balls.
I will never understand why in many cartoon movie adaptations there is the need to have the characters come to "the real world". What is wrong with keeping them in their fictional land?
Considering I'm not, nor ever was, a fan of the old show, for some reason, the idea of Smurfs in the real world seems to be a concept that would be funny even for me. The characters seem to have a lot of energy. My opinion: it looks like a lot of fun!
What exactly are you basing that on?

Maybe it's budgetary.
Uh, please tell me: Why do I need to base it on anything other than, "hey, that trailer looks novel"? I mean: some people get worked up over teaser posters that just have the name of the film written in some cool font. To them, that's all they need. Recently, there was a trailer for this new fantasy epic and all the trailer said was that "Winter is coming" and people (obviously familiar with the source material) got excited. I don't blame them.My opinion: it looks like a lot of fun!

I hope that CGI is not the final product - those smurfs look more like clay models rather than computer animation.
See it here
We only get a few shots of the smurfs, but with something like this, a few shots will make or break a person's interest in the film.

I don't know why they had to bring them to the present.

Yeah, really. I liked it better when they were on that planet with the floating mountains.
