New series

It would be awesome if there was a new series. Set perhaps in the 26th century. My preference would be deep stories characters like DS9 combined with a Voyager like proper long term story.

There's already a "Future of Star Trek" section of the BBS where people can post ideas that will never have a chance in hell of happening.

I once again dredge out my decade-old concept of the rotating anthology series.

Four different series, by four different production crews. Each series features a different Trek crew and time period. The shows all appear in the same weekly time slot, each one appearing once a month. Given a 24-episode season, each show would have six episodes.

Week 1: The Romulan Wars, featuring the crew of a Starfleet warship.
Week 2: Kirk-period stories featuring a different crew and ship.
Week 3: Enterprise-B stories.
Week 4: "current" Trek period stories, featuring the crew of the first starbase in the Gamma Quadrant.

Yeah, I know, impractical and expensive. So what, we're dreamin' here.

Every so often, we do hear about producers with a legit chance of getting a Star Trek series made, who have their own ideas - Kurtzman and Orci with an animated series, Seth McFarlane wants to do something, etc. - so it's not out of question that something will happen, but there's no way to know details till we know where it's going to air.

As others have pointed out, there's a whole subforum for the discussion of new Trek shows (and movies). Normally, I would just move the thread down there but as the topic of this thread is too unspecific for that, I'll just close it, as interesting as the topic is.
driff, I recommend you take a look at the Future of Trek forum and get involved in the discussions there or create a more specific thread there.
