New Review...

...they simply decided on the spot that they would show it in 4 screens instead of 3 to accommodate our massive group.

That makes sense if they have the option.

During the first days of a film's opening, the studio takes the biggest percentage of ticket sales - that declines over the weeks, so a movie with "legs" is more profitable for the exhibitors. Given that, the problem with selling out the house, particularly weeks in advance, is that for any film you'll have a sizable percentage of no-shows (life happens while you're making other plans, y'know). And no-shows don't buy expensive candy and popcorn at the concession stand.

Rational and completely logical. :vulcan:

I agree. I don't think your local movie house wants a huge percentage of seats to sell out in advance. I think 15 - 20% would probably be about all they want for the fact that there is a lot more likely a chance of exactly what you suggest happening the more people buy pre-sale tix.

People always begrudge the theaters for charging exorbitantly high prcies for their concessions but I never do because I worked for an independently owned theater during High School and I know how little they actually make off of ticket sales. I have no problem paying 11.00 for for a large Popcorn and Soda with free refills that my wife and I can share. Shit... they have to make money somehow.

VI and VIII being the best Star Trek Movies?

I don't know how he missed Wrath of Khan. Blows them out of the water in my opinion.
I was thinking about the movies when he listed X, and was wondering what movie I missed. I actually had to google the list of movies to figure out that I missed Insurrection, wow, I don't even remember it, it must be really really ..... really bad. I'll have to go back and watch it again. :)

Definitely surprising that he missed TWOK but to each his own as far as what's "best." Unlike most Trek fans, as much as I love TWOK, I think FC is the best of all of the films to date with TWOK being a close second. TUC, third.

I also don't think TFF or INS are as bad as most people think they are either.

NEM, OTOH is still one ofthe worst pieces of shit ever put on celluloid.
