New Production Format

That the new TV series depicts the multiple Star Trek venues (TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9, ENT) airing every fifth week. One week TOS, the next TNG, the next VOY and so on repeating the cycle satisfying all fans of Trek.

NBC did it in the 1970's with McCloud, Macmillan and Wife, and Columbo.

All venues can shoot at a Trek complex of studios and load up the episodes to be shown in the procession I mentioned.

With the Bankability of Trek CBS would not be risking anything. There will always be a market for trek hungry fans.

Big bucks all at once or even bigger bucks over a greater period of time... volume. It builds and industries and establishes icons and benchmarks.

Cash and carry only bubbles up and bursts. Think of the economy...

No, this is based entirely on wishful thinking and no information about budget constraints, production practicality or expected audience size.

Sometimes even the weatherman has to stick his head outside to see if it's raining, Dennis.

Why was this even worth a separate thread from your other thread?

This thread is about Star Trek Chronicles (new shows about five possibly six Star Trek genres TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9, ENT, and Star Trek Titan). All new shows interspersed every 5th or 6th week using the same formats.

The other thread is about a new Star Trek format Star Trek Universe using the TOS genre only in the new format of universe exploration rather than galactic exploration... using Quantum Phased Lensing as the main star drive and warp drive as the local star drive.

That's why.

Then why not make thread titles that reflect the subject instead of generic titles that sound like you're talking about the same thing in different threads?

Dennis,

Disney bought Star Wars from Lucas for $4,B. Rumor has it JJ is onboard for three for two more films. That means Disney will be out some $5,B before profit in at least 8 more years (till all films are made and paid for and they make bank).

CBS has one year to show dyed-in-the-wool Trek fans they are serious about getting them to watch their network. What they need is a good story for a made for tv movie pilot and a good format for the series.

Star Trek fans tapered off a bit during Star Trek Enterprise because of bickering over things that were not even Star Trek cannon. Star Wars however, fans fell out in droves from the disappointing prequels. (Their disappointment, not mine. I loved the prequels).

And I loved Star Trek Enterprise. And as it turns out so do a lot of Trek fans who did not while it was still making new episodes.

Point is, both have staying power with audiences. And CBS will not have to spend nearly as much to sell soap. Star Wars has always been in theaters. Star Trek needs to come home to television, and CBS will actually risk nothing.

Life is so short. Don't deprive me of the opportunity to give folks like you high blood pressure.

If you can change the thread titles then by all means do.

This one is Star Trek Chronicles and the other one is Star Trek Universe.

Fortune cookie aphorisms aside, your suggestion makes no sense. CBS might as well burn big piles of money in the executive parking lot.

Gotta spend money to make money. Besides I think our posts are crossing, Dennis.

I can't change the thread titles. Can you?

In other words, "any luck, Duck?"

I don't think CBS reads these boards.

You might be surprised.
You might be disappointed.

Only a moderator can change thread titles. which is why you should put more thought into them when you create them.
