Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

I really doubt that they doing Destiny - that does not sound like the sort of pitch that brings an actor back to a role...
Yeah, plus he said he wouldn't be "Captain Picard", so unless the only thing they'd take from Destiny is the concept of a Borg Invasion (which is hardly unique to Destiny) I don't see that happening.

I think using the Destiny books and bringing the borg back would cost too much for the special effects when it comes to the borg attacks destroying planets described in the Destiny books.I prefer they have a new story they've already had plenty of borg stuff in TNG and Voyager.

I find that extremely hard to believe

Yes, sorry, I don't for a minute believe they are going to base their new Patrick Stewart vehicle on a 10-year-old novel trilogy (no matter how excellent that trilogy was). It was just a joke, based on nothing other than them both having the same name. That's what the "...what??" at the end was intended to convey. My apologies that it fell flat.

In my defense, it seemed fairly funny to me at 3:30 in the morning.

It was funny, but I think it wasn't perfect. You could have added "...twice" after "but they're actually adapting it from a novelverse trilogy." in reference to them trademarking twice. Still a good joke though :)

Ah shit, turns out I made that joke and no one found it funny. I guess you got the maximum out of it then :techman:

I saw a very disturbing YouTube video today which sheds light on implications of the Picard series, while also clarifying why Discovery has been such a Kelvin-esque shit-show.

If what it says in the video is true, then we need all pray for the downfall of probable-rapist Les Moonves.

Don't believe any of the shit Midnight's Edge spews out.

We already had a thread about this video in the DSC subforum.

This is all I'm going to say on the subject.

Okay, so looking only at the novels because the comparison was about the Novelverse, we got the Aftermath trilogy, Last Shot (tie-in to Solo), Bloodline, The Legends of Luke Skywalker (which is about Legendss about... Luke), Phasma, Before the Awakening (anthology about Finn, Rey & Poe) and two thirds of the Join the Resistance trilogy. That's hardly the Novelverse.
You missed a few, New Dawn, Dark Disciple, Ahsoka, Lords of the Sith, Tarkin, Most Wanted, Rebel Rising, Lost Stars, Battlefront: Twilight Company, Leia: Princess of Alderaan, Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, Heir to the Jedi. All of the novels, in all of the eras are just as connected as all of the Trek books in all of it's different eras.
They don't have as many books because they have only been going on since the Disney sale, and they only release a handfull of books a year.

I think Jinn was just talking about the Post-ROTJ books based on her list.

Yeah, pretty much. My only point really is that the new Star Wars novels don't present an ongoing story post-RotJ like the old EU did, which to my best of knowledge is true.

Oh, sorry I guess I misunderstood.
I think that is mainly because of the sequel trilogy, they're trying to avoid going to in depth into things they want to save for the movies.

Been thinking about this recently.

I have a feeling that the novelverse is going to stop at some stage.

To my mind it would makes business sense for Pocket to publish novels that fit round the current series to appeal to new fans and long standing ones.

I wonder how many people who discovered Star Trek through Discovery picked up books in the novelverse. Not as many as picked up the Discovery books I would think.

No wonder the world is in trouble. People are so gullible.
