New Picard SDCC Trailer

That was an amazing trailer! I was thinking there would have to be a Borg angle and there is in addition to the Romulan one. It looks great! I love that Seven is apart of the cast. Did not expect that but given the story elements it makes sense. The Data/B4 inclusion I didn't see coming. At least not so soon! I lost count of how many times I watched the trailer yesterday!

There's a bit of grey visible. But, yes, I know the Admiral is wearing something similar. As I said, just a theory.
Oh you're right, I didn't even notice that

Keep in mind, though -- there's a scene where Picard is talking to an admiral at Starfleet and she's wearing something similar. I didn't notice that until I first spun that theory. This scene, though, just seems very dream-like to me and sort of has a, "last time we saw Data," thing going on.

He also calls him Captain, not Admiral.

There isn't. This is all based on a John Eaves comment and the YouTube conspiracy theorists went ballistic. They freaked out because our beloved NCC-1701 wasn't an exact copy from its 1964 counterpart -- right down to the painted nacelle caps. And John Eaves said something, erroneously, about how it was stated it needed to be changed for legal reasons. This was followed up as being inaccurate and it was said that the Enterprise was slightly modified to be "modernized," because...it was 2018 and not 1964.

The more realistic explanation (which is equally triggering for DSC/JJ fans) is that the stylistic differences are simply a matter of bad taste and not mandated by a contract.

Back on track.

It may have been theorized already, but, I think Data is just appearing in a dream. He looks to be wearing a First Contact era uniform and refers to Jean-Luc as "Captain." Picard was still a Captain when we last saw Data and as we saw in the first trailer, Picard was referred to as an Admiral. Interestingly, at the Picard panel, Spiner said Data will appear throughout the season several times in different ways. I have a weird feeling Picard is going to have some sort of recurring dream of him or "visions" of Data throughout the season.
This is what I was thinking.
I know this makes me sound like a whiney fan girl, but I don't like the new Starfleet uniforms. Wish they had kept the first contact uniform.

There's that, too. I had a discussion like this when Discovery first began. The person I was "arguing" with couldn't understand why they didn't follow the 1960s look from TOS. Now, aside from it just being dated (of course that's only my opinion), if you're a production person and get to take a crack at Star Trek, surely, you want to give the look your own stamp. Yes, there are certain things that CANNOT change, but, to be beholden to something a previous design time created with no room to create something of your own? Sorry, that's kind of shitty.

The redesigned Enterprise bridge is a perfect example of blending old with the new while maintaining its classic look. Despite looking more modern than the TOS set, you look at it and still can tell, yes, that IS the bridge of the ORIGINAL USS Enterprise.

Each Trek series has their own unique look, despite being set in the same continuity. And that's ok. I've always said, so long as they stay consistent with the events of past shows and films, then it's all good. The idea of a "visual reboot" -- which was a new concept introduced to me on this board -- just seemed a little ridiculous.

Yeah, I understand. Honestly, for me, there isn't many Starfleet uniforms I'm a fan of. I really do love the TOS ones and the TNG uniforms from season three onward. The Kirk era uniforms are nice, too. Of course, Starfleet, itself, can't seem to decide what uniforms it likes either because they change so damn often.

Even Lower Decks has a new uniform, and it's a year after Nemesis.

I haven't followed the Lower Decks info from yesterday. Is it stated what ship they're on? Titan, perhaps? They could give Frakes and Sirtis some extra voice work change!

That is...a pretty intriguing thought.
People have speculated about whether Picard had children. The theme here could be that all those kids who grew up on the Enterprise-D are Picard's surrogate children...or grandchildren, whatever.

But would that make this...Star Trek: The Millennial Generation? :ack:
I like it. I like it a lot

"Let's make a deal, doctor. I'll spare you the 'Star Trek must look modern' speech and you spare me the 'Star Trek must remain faithful' speech. You and I are not going to see eye to eye on this subject, so I suggest we stop discussing it."
