New image released from Star Trek Into Darkness

I figured it out. John Harrison was a clockmaker, also a navigator. This is a hidden reference to TAS "The Counter Clock Incident." Cumberbach is Robert April angry that a tween is commanding his vessel and back for vengeance. QED

Paramount made a typo on the press release. He's really playing John Harriman, taking over for Alan Ruck from Star Trek: Generations. I suppose in the alternate reality he was to become the Enterprise's captain, but since he did not attain that position, he rages.

See how much one image can spoil?

Maybe if Cumberbatch is Robert April reversed aged and enhanced, he takes revenge on Admiral Pike (who took over the Enterprise from him) killing him.

From this frame of film I can only deduce that not only has JJ raped my childhood to death, but now dug up the corpse to rape it again.

DAMN YOU JJ!!!

This fits with Cumberbatch's insistence that if anyone knew who the villain was, they wouldn't be interested, and JJ going on a major campaign of producing buzz before it even gets out. I will find that source for you and back this up.

Also, it fits with why a Hispanic actor was initially desired, look at Harrison on Memory Alpha.

Exactly.
They originally wanted Benicio Del Toro (Puerto Rican) as the lead. He actually resembles the Ron Veto (Hawaiian) who played Harrison in the original series first season episodes. Check out the comparison:

Mhmm..., I have that sudden urge to watch The Dark Knight, Skyfall, and the Avengers.

Ever thought that it is the Gary Mitchell scenario but without Gary Mitchell? ;)

There is a slight resemblance between Cumberbatch and Ron Veto. The way their hair is combed is very similar. Mean anything? Doubtful.
