Anyone watch the new show with Zooey Deschanel? I watched it this afternoon and they are calling it the best new comedy of the fall or best new pilot.

I watched it and it was closer to awful. If this is the BEST new comedy show, then they need to close down TV right now. Might as well make it all reality and sports. It was painfully unfunny, the acting went from terrible to bad to totally sucks. I swear they were reading their lines off cue cards just off camera. I don't see how this is going to last.

Yep it was complete trash. I don't know if I can watch anymore of it, I couldn't believe how awful it was.

Hated it. Didn't finish it. Which for me... is weird. Even I don't like something, I'll finish it, especially when it's only 20 minutes.

But this... hated.

I downloaded the free copy on iTunes when it first came out, but didn't bother watching it until today when I noticed I had missed the premiere last night.

It was horrible, plain and simple. Deschanel's character was just ridiculous, as was the guy who kept having to put money in the "douchebag jar." The other two male characters were just uninteresting. No one displayed any charisma or humor in their roles.

I don't see how this is going to last.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the ratings over the next couple of weeks. It premiered to 10.1 million viewers, beating even Glee. I can't imagine that's due to anything more than the star draw of Deschanel, since the (very) few advertisements I saw a couple weeks ago were pretty bad too.

I thought Deschanel was as awesome and adorable as ever... but unfortunately any time the show shifted AWAY from her it fell completely and utterly flat.

The writing was lame, and the only other actor besides Deschanel who made any impression at all, the black guy, is apparently going to be replaced in the next episode. The other two guys felt like just a couple of bland and annoying Friends rejects.

Holy shit were they annoying.

Fairly terrible. Just awful. A couple cute moments, but the character was more awkward (as in made me feel awkward watching, not just awkward in her life) than fun, and the supporting characters are pretty lame. Won't be watching it again.

I can take Zooey in small doses only. She's cute, but I've never considered her much of an actress, personally. She's a bit too deadpan. She's a good singer, though, and if the joke I saw in the ads about her character creating her own theme song carries on I might tune in and give a listen. Otherwise I don't know if I'm too interested in watching on a weekly basis. I honestly forgot it was coming on.

My tolerance for sitcoms is pretty low anyway, and for me the quota this season has been filled by 2 Broke Girls (even though on first impression it's basically The Odd Couple with sex jokes).

I see there is not a lot of love for the show but I have to admit that I lol'd quite a few times. I like it better than the other new sitcom we tried out, Up All Night.

I'm not big on sitcoms either, but I thought I'd at least sample the new ones mentioned above, especially since I like the actresses involved. I'll probably track down 2 Broke Girls and take a look at that too. Just found out that Whitney Cummings is a producer on that one.

I liked it too. I enjoyed her performance more than I did the pretty generic guys, but I thought that this first episode did well as a "set up" for the show. I'll keep watching for a while to see how it develops.
