I went to Mexico 17 years ago when I got married. I got sick afterwards, at the time I thought it was just food poisoning but now I think it's Pig Flu!!!

I don't get why so many of you are writing this off because it's "just the flu." The flu can kill people, you know, and when antigenic shifts or reassortments occur it can kill LOTS of people. This is probably a reassortment (swine gets infected at the same time by both human and avian influenza strains; the genetic material gets mixed up and out comes a new virus) . This means epitopes that our immune systems have never seen before, which can be deadly.

Before y'all mock people for taking influenza epidemic's seriously, take a virology class or two.

Actually, it's not "the flu" that kills people, it's complications that result from the flu. Namely secondary infections like pneumonia. Before you tell us to take a virology course, you may want to take an epidemiology course.

And, speaking as a person with HIV with a Tcell count that hovers in the 300's, I'm not panicky over this, not one bit. I'm not going to run around paranoid that if somebody sneezes I'm going to get the flu.
