I'm going to get burned for this, but seeing how Yesterday's Enterprise's screentime is 5% time travel and 95% alternate universe, that should be on this set... or at the very least have made the list. I'm with you on ENT Vanishing Point, I'm also probably that episode's only fan, so that makes me objective about crossing it off the list! What bugs me most is how an episode which didn't make that incomplete list, has virtually no chance of reaching the shortlist...
And don't get me started on how TATV made the Captains set!

I am surprised by with over 700+ episodes to choose from, these sets endup double-dipping multiple episodes (and that includes the Jean-Luc Picard collection!).

The surprising thing about TATV being on the Captains set is that it was a fan voted episode. Huh? That means there are are fans who liked the episode, which I've seen no indication of. Hell, even Scott Bakula expresses his surprise the episode got fan votes in his interview on the set.

Honestly, I have a hard time even finding 12 episodes there that should really qualify as Alternative-Reality. These 11 are probably the only ones I would say barely qualify, and half of these are a stretch.

I suppose that folks voted on more than one computer (I used either 2 or 3) so it wouldn't matter--but I wonder what the Captain's Log set would have been like if you'd have had to choose either one or two captains to vote for.

Biggest issue I notice is that Resurrection, and The Emperor's New Cloak were both left off. What ever happened to including all 8 Mirror Universe episodes? I'm not really crazy about the Twisted Realities disc. I'd rather see the final 2 mirror universe episodes and 2 more alternate lives episodes.

That's a huge bummer of a list. I have the complete series of Voy, Ent, and TOS on dvd--still, I would have been interested in this set with more and better reps from TNG seasons 6 and 7. I don't mind having some extras of favorite eps, and perhaps the extras will be good. Frankly, though--the Captain's Logs features were so, so short--doubt these will be an better.
The irony is the earlier collectives reawkened my love of Trek so I bought series sets--now I doubt that I want this. Ah well, they got a ton more of my money, so not buying this won't hurt them!
Still--there are a couple of great Troi eps (the suicide one and Face of the Enemy) that I would have been willing to buy this for--Frame of Mind, Parallels...good, but I doubt I'll shell out the bucks.
I'm not a MU fan or a DS9 fan--but leaving off 2 eps of that seems misguided. They leave those off and leave 2 of TOS worst on the list (Alt Factor, Turnabout Intru)? What's that about?

No fan voting would have helped. But, the bigger problem with the last two sets is they balanced each series without making it clear in the voting. If they were planning on limiting the set to 4 episodes per series then only let fans vote for 4 episodes per series. Don't create one massive list and then use the smaller sample size that voted for 4+

Resurrection I can kind of understand being excluded since it is actually set in the regular universe with Mirror characters travelling here. Though The Emperor's New Cloak should definatel be there.
As for the episode list itself, it's okay, but disc 3 is questionable. Personally, I don't see how any of them count as alternate realities. The Enemy Within is is basically an evil twin story while Turnabout Intruder is a body swap. Frame of Mind is really more of a hallucination, while Shattered is time travel allowing a trip down memory lane.
Botheration. I wish they'd just stuck with stories dealing with parallel dimensions, twisted histories and alternate futures. Instead extending that to transporter twins, dopplegangers and psycho trips has really fudged the issue.

I would much rather have anything instead of The Alternative Factor. How did they decide it was a good idea to put that in a "best of" boxed set???
