New Doctor to be revealed on Sunday

Is it reading too much into it to point out that they never use the word "He" in reference to the 12th Doctor

BTW discussion about this has been going on in the predict the 12th Doctor thread cos it was leaked yesterday.

I'm either going to be at a charity quiz night at work or with the other half for a friends leaving do, so won't be able to watch this live. I'll just have to check either Facebook or Twitter.

I was at a wedding when the 11th announcement was made. It coincided with the meal and the room was out of phone reception, so a girl at our table went back to her room to watch the special. She returned with this name none of us had heard of. I'll be watching live this weekend though.

Miranda Hart.

Anyone seen my coat?

To be honest if it were to be a woman, I could think of infinitely worse suggestions. I can think of better suggestions too, but she has done serious work, and she certainly wouldn't play the role like her prat-falling sitcom character.

It won't be her though

Personally I'll be happy to not bother sitting through half an hour of celebrity tat to hear a name - Reckon I'll just look at teletext afterwards.

Assuming it doesn't leak before.

Given that it will be revealed live in front of a fan audience I'm not sure they'd want a percentage of them booing.

Hopefully they'll filter out sexists from the crowd.

The lead actress from The Hour would be an interesting choice for a woman Doctor, I think.

She's rumoured to be a bit of a prima donna/perfectionist/luvvie (delete as you choose); reportedly she so annoyed Ian McKellen when she was playing his daughter in King Lear that he started to send her up by 'method acting' Lear's senior moments, by taking a nap in mid-scene to see how she'd cope with not getting her next cue from him.
All of which means that I'm not sure be willing to cope with some of the 'How the !!! do we do this? Oh well, let's just try...' that comes with Who...
Also, she's recently had a baby; you can fit acting and motherhood together, obviously, but it's easier if you're doing short runs with breaks in between, not holding down a lead role who appears in an awful lot of scenes in 13 episodes a year.

A female Doctor would inspire boos?
Yes. There are a lot of fans who are opposed to the idea of a female Doctor. It would not be universally popular at first.

I'm not one of them of course. But there are a lot out there.
