New Companion Being Revealed Tomorrow (21st) at 10.30am

Well, I guess that's that then. Done and over already. I guess I was expecting archangels blowing trumpets, not some actress I am unfamiliar with being named. Oh well...:rommie:

She can blow my trumpet any time...

Haha! Good one, there Vice Admiral. I admit she is much easier on the eyes than I expected, but can she act? I've never seen Emmersdale before, me being american. Having admitted that, it is no wonder I don't recongise her name, I probably wouldn't recognise most names being tossed out there before she got the part! :techman:

I'm not a fan of Emmerdale, I have to say, but from what little I've seen of her in it, yes she can act. That's more than can be said for quite a few of that cast, mind you...

I know the perfect girl for you, she is well used to blowing trumpets.

Good. I was worried she was only known for being a looker and not capable of acting per se. This is a load off my mind friend, thanks. I can't wait to see her turn up in Doctor Who!

Odd as this feels to say, I would really like a homely introvert sort of character for a change. A 'rescue' that the Doctor takes in and can have a bit of a fathery mentor relationship with, trying to bring her(I assume we're stuck with women as the main companion for a good long while) out of her shell and heal from her personal tragedies, instead of being a crazy uncle who just wants to show these kids the universe.

Like Ace. That would be a great thing.

I feel compelled to point out an argument I'm having on a DW thread on another site. Having seen this thread last night, I started one called 'New Companion to be revealed tomorrow?'

I am now being accused by another poster of posting a spoiler. I pointed out that a thread with a question in it can hardly be a spoiler, given that I didn't say how, when, where or why the new companion would join and that I was merely pointing out rumours ongoing in DW fandom.

But apparently I have encountered the one man in the world who doesn't read any movie/ tv website except that one and who didn't see it on any of the news forums or media which reported the story at great length today. So I've made a new enemy! Wooo! Go me!

Yes, totally in agreement. A bit of mystery too couldn't hurt.

Nothing new for me, I am afraid. I have made multiple enemies online over the past nine years but I got out of the situation and they don't bother me anymore.

Hilarious. He apparently doesn't read the newspaper or watch TV or listen to the radio or... have much of a clue in general.

I remember a while back when someone started a thread and mentioned that The Daleks would make an appearance in the upcoming season. That was all this poster mention and nothing concerning the episode. Someone replied "Thanks the spoiler!" Amazing that some people can't tell the difference between a spoiler and just general information.

Oh yeah, I know, just being pedantic. Plenty of actors have done soaps at one point or another...We can add Sir Ian Mckellan and Robert Vaughn into the soap actors fraternity now as well :)

Guy Pearce was in "Neighbours". (As was Russell Crowe briefly.)

And Davey Jones (RIP) was in "Coronation Street" before he was in "The Monkees".

Plus Kylie, Melissa George, Simon (The Mentalist) Baker and, of course, not forgetting Alan (in everything, ever) Dale

Don't know her from Adam but in that youtube interview she seems pleasant and pretty but in a rather generic way, not too exciting yet. Guess we'll see this Xmas (man, that seems a long way off)...

Yeah I felt the same, she wasn't bland as such, but nothing stands out as yet. Unfair to judge her before we see her in the show, in character though and I'm sure she'll be great.

Considering most Dalek eps are actually called 'The Something of the Daleks' that's quite amusing.

Funnily enough Moffat said a while back that the first episode was called "[something] Of The [something]" which should have been a hint!

My fingers are crossed for "Death Of The Fatleks"

How can anything be considered a spoiler when it's been covered by worldwide media? And not only that, the departure of Karen and Arthur is widely known too and has been since Christmas. That guy needs to learn what a spoiler is. A spoiler is not that an actor is coming or going; a spoiler is revealing the story behind the changeover (and even then Moffat revealed that at the press conference yesterday in terms of Amy and Rory's departure).

If your new enemy is reading this, hey, call me spoiler man too: Matt Smith is going to leave the series and the Doctor is going to regenerate. There, spoiled! Of course we don't know when and we don't know how, and we may not know for a year or more, but that doesn't seem to make a difference for some folks!

That's OK, I saw a guy griping on one of these boards because someone discussed the ending of some show like Twin Peaks 20 years after the fact. If you don't want spoilers, especially regarding decades-old shows, don't go online. Easy.
