New Companion Being Revealed Tomorrow (21st) at 10.30am

Yea, I like Spoilers like "Someone's gonna die" or "This actor or Character is going to be in an episode" stuff like that, especially when it is released by the showrunner. That kind of stuff makes speculate more and anticipate more.

The bad stuff is plot twists, who's gonna die and how....

I've posted with a few folks who even avoid the previews (Though, I mostly don't see previews anymore for most shows I watch, because I typically watch from "On Demand", rather than broadcast and On Demand doesn't generally give you previews).

Had one guy who threw a fit because someone discussed the current episode, and then discussed the preview for the next week and speculate about what it meant. "Hey, don't discuss episodes that haven't aired yet"

Thank you for your agreement (which I expected). Apart from anything else, I thought that the question mark at the end of my title thread rendered it a query, not a spoiiler.

And, no, apparently this guy doesn't read any news or media websites so as to avoid DW spoilers. That DW forum is the only one he visits. I pointed out that of all the sites he could visit, a DW forum was probably not the ideal one if he wanted to remain totally spoiler-free.

I also noted that the forum's rules said not to post news in the titles 'which would be regarded as a spoiler by the casual viewer' (my italics). I suggested that the term 'casual viewer' would not really be applicable to someone who sits at home with their head under the duvet and their fingers in their ears saying 'lalalalalalala' in case they heard a casting announcement which was all over every news outlet out there...

This discussion about spoilers reminds me of a scene from the Big Bang Theory...someone tells Sheldon that the new Hellboy comic is "mindblowing" and Sheldon gets angry because to him that counts as a spoiler.

Personally, I'm usually more interesting in seeing how something happens, so a spoiler, even a major spoiler, doesn't bother me too much...although I also like surprises.

A perfect example of this is in Babylon 5. Early in the series, there was an episode called "Signs and Portents" in which we are shown the end of the series - with no context. It isn't until 4 1/2 years later that we discover the context, after the characters have taken the journey.

It's not about how the story ends, it's about the journey, how the characters go from point A to point B.

Never seen or heard of this actress... however I will be checking her out in Titanic this weekend :)

More to come in this weeks radio times

^ Wow, is that a oversize mock-up of the TARDIS, or is Jenna really that short? Her head doesn't even reach the top of the phone door! And the St. John Ambulance crest is almost as big as her face! :D

The Secrecy Surrounding The Role
“I wasn’t allowed to say it was Doctor Who at any point – not talking to my agent, not when I arrived at the audition, and I certainly couldn’t tell anyone at all what I was up to next,” the 25-year-old actress says, admitting that she was surprised at how good a fibber she became. “When she was auditioning, Karen Gillan had been given a codename – Panic Moon, which is an anagram of Companion – so I worked out that Men on Waves is an anagram of Woman Seven, because this is the seventh series. Weirdly, seven is my lucky number and this is my seventh job.”

About The Unusual Audition Process
“Normally you’re just reading in front of a camera, but with this, it was so physical. We were using props and running around so it felt like playing – and like a partnership straightaway.”

Relieved That The News is Out
“When you keep a secret this big – I’ve kept this one for six weeks – the temptation to tell is all the more irresistible, especially as I live with three schoolfriends,” she says. “With girl politics the way they are, I couldn’t tell just one friend. I had to phone one of them on the way to the press conference to tell her that I’d borrowed her shoes, in case she saw them in photos.”

Delighted That She is No Longer Unemployed After Not Working For a Year
“It’s very easy for people to put you in a box,” she says, “and I’ve been fighting very hard against that.”

How ITV's Titanic Help Her Prepare On How To Deal With Special Effects
“I haven’t had to talk to anyone who wasn’t there before, but in Titanic, I did have to talk to a paper cup as if it were a person on a ship. So maybe that was good practice…”

About Her Character
“I have an idea of the story, of the character and of a few surprises, but I don’t know her name or where she’s from. I just told Steven and [producer] Caroline Skinner ‘Don’t tell me anything until I need to know it.’”

Regarding Her New Role
“In Emmerdale, I murdered somebody and in Waterloo Road, I murdered somebody,” she grins broadly, “so now I’m hoping to have fun. Lots of it.”
