I like to consider these two seasons, because they're so short and because they're so interconnected via Ace's arc (basically the first proper companion arc spanning a series of stories), I like to brand them and consider them as one season, really.
It's interesting how the McCoy years were so maligned at the time, but are now some of the most-loved series and get some of the best blu-ray releases.
I haven't seen this posted here but the next Blu-ray set is Hartnell's 2nd Season. Due to be released on December 2nd in the UK. Got mine pre-ordered!

Oh, geez. Is this a reissue or something? The listing says it hasn't been released yet.Um... the Hartnell Season 2/Doctor Who the Collection Season 2 Blu Ray set released in December 2022 in the UK, and March 2023 in the US. I own it and am literally looking at it right now (I'm in the US).

I had gotten a previous Hartnell but forgetting which season it was assumed this one was a different one!
This is the standard release. I'm looking forward to it as I've been collecting the standard releases (they're cheaper and take up less shelf space). I just wish they'd accelerate the SE releases as there's more than enough LEs out to ensure that people who collect the latter won't switch to the former.Oh, geez. Is this a reissue or something? Season one is roughly average (with some great lines added by the script editor when scripts ran short). Later seasons have higher highs and lower lows.Got my copy of the Blake's 7 set today, and it looks really nice! The artwork is great and it comes with a nice booklet in the style of the Who releases.
I've never actually seen the show, so looking forward to dipping into it when I've finished Season 25.
It's exactly the same here, I'm wondering if the box and packaging will be better than the episodes!Got my copy of the Blake's 7 set today, and it looks really nice! The artwork is great and it comes with a nice booklet in the style of the Who releases.

Looks like another sensational set! It's a brilliant season and all the new edits and effects should be wonderful. It's interesting how the McCoy years were so maligned at the time, but are now some of the most-loved series and get some of the best blu-ray releases.
I think it’s because they are (a) pretty tightly written, especially the last two seasons and (b) are very much the template for the modern series, that it makes them much more approachable to modern/younger fans. At the time they probably felt a little alien to the older fans, because they were much bigger on character development.
Truth is, the series has been repeating patterns set here for years since its return (apart from the romance arcs) so seeing some of those things here, when they were a bit fresher, is probably quite a draw.
