New Charlie Brooker Show on C4

Its working on Firefox 3.5 for me perfectly, just watched Dead Set...and am actually amazed it managed to "shit me up" so to speak. Horror as a genre hasnt done that to me in a very long time....

I went into this thinking it would be brooker stuck in another bland panel show, and i have lot of time for Brooker.........but thankfully i did really enjoy it, it was like screen-wipes but with some other people in the room, and he won me at The Taliban Vs the IRA........in a car park.:guffaw:

Loved it, and as proof i did not even mind the advert break, that's the power of Brooker.

Jeez wamdue, have a coke and a smile and stop talking shite. Rufus Hound and Richard Herring were hilarious, as usual, and even the ever air headed Jamelia had her moments. I find it funny that you insist this show was devoid of entertainment yet can happily watch an entire series of turgid shit like Primeval.

I really liked the show. Strange mix of 8 out of 10 cats and Screenwipe with a hint of the Friday Night Project (Jimmy Carr era) thrown in, perhaps?

A fried egg chilli chutney sandwich of a show, methinks. Either way, Brooker was on top form. And I HAVE to find a "Deadliest" torrent.

Ask ric about that last thing...
There was a Jimmy Carr Era for FNP? glad I didn't know, I might have been compelled to watch.

For those wanting to watch it on 4oD, they can sometimes take a day or 2 to put some shows up.

am I not allowed to have an opinon that differs from your own?

I am not going to defend Primeval I get the feeling I would be wasting my typing, but all ive ever done is give my honest opinon on a show, to say that "I am talking shite" for just giving my honest opinon is wrong.

If I had just come in this thread and said "this is rubbish" then yeah that would not be a good thing, but you know what look back at my review, I gave reasons for it, and ive read similar opinions else where.

Most if not all of my reviews are balanced, and come with reasons, yeah im more of a critic in nature, but if I enjoy something ill say that as well. Look at the two differnt views of the first two Torchwood episodes.

I will have that coke however ;)

I am not going to defend Primeval

Good plan.

Though your comments didn't seem balanced in the slightest. You said you turned your TV off during the first segment and pretty much couldn't be arsed with the panel. That's as bad as watching the opening scene of a film, walking out and telling people "It was shite from start to finish."

Anyway the show... I was looking forward to it though hoped it wouldn't turn into another 'Cats' type dealio. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed...

My very scarily similar and extremely vocal hatred for the One Show being reflected by my hero of spite sold me. The autocue moment was genius... even the opening monologue still felt completely Brooker, so no watering down.

It felt like it passed quick but did seem to go a bit Buzzcocks towards the end - not a bad thing with Brookers wit. Good stuff. Show, writing and panel was good... the set though... a bit TV Heaven...

it was balanced in that I said I like the parts that were just a rip off of Screenwipe, had I not been balanced, I would have said they were awful by simply being what they are, rip offs of Screenwipe.

and if the panel had been funny I could have been "arsed" I felt they added nothing to the show, and make the show "diet coke" to Screenwipes "coke"

I was not going to stick around to see Charlie carry the entire panel, when the times he is doing that, all he is really doing is Screenwipe, just make Screenwipe, and have people who are actually funny record a segment, not pass 5 minutes to a random panel, and hope they say something funny.

But that assumption made you bypass actually watching what the panel had to offer. Two funny men and a dunce added to the format greatly. Though at this stage you'll ave to take our word for it.

Just watching now via the online catch-up thingy.

Seems fine so far - Richard Herring! Yes! We need more of this man in our lives. And as for Brooker - if he were to tell me that everything I like is shite I'd probably agree with him. That's how good he is.

He was still wrong about LazyTown though. :p

I remain woefully/wonderfully* ignorant about LazyTown. :D
And I say ten Funny Points go to Rufus Hound for "I'm going to keep it British and go with the IRA". :rommie::rommie:

* delete non-applicable "w" word

EDIT: Couldn't resist it...

Well I agree with Wamdue, I watched the first half, didn't think it was that funny so I put it off and went to bed.

I will tune in for the Torchwood show next week and give it another chance.

...and make the show "diet coke" to Screenwipes "coke"
We don't have any coke right now, we're not going to be getting any coke for several months, so rather than go cokeless we may as well have some of the diet coke which is on offer. At least that's how I look at it.

I'd vastly prefer new Screenwipe, but there is no new Screenwipe so I may as well enjoy this show for all the Screenwipe chunks it contains. Even if the panel parts are weak the Screenwipe parts are solid.

^And he may not be doing any more Screenwipe in the near future by the sounds of it. He will be doing more Newswipe and Gamewipe though.

so if coke was axed totally, and you had no choice but to drink diet coke, would you then drink diet coke, I would not.
