New cadet James T. Kirk picture

IAMSPOCK.jpg

Did you also read Leonard Nimoy's last book, I am also Captain Kirk? ;)

Just because it would have been a nice little nod to those of US that do care about things like this and certainly would not have harmed anybody or the movie, if they had.

They dyed his hair. How many "nods" do you think you're entitled to at the expense of the actor? A performer might be expected to make whatever reasonable changes or sacrifice are necessary to create a character, of course, but this fussing over eye-color falls outside of that realm. The guy was hired to play Kirk - who is not an historical personage with known physical characteristics - not to be William Shatner.

Pine's a lot taller than Shatner, too, who Herb Solow once described as the one actor on Trek who'd fit believably into a Disneyland miniature street set without his lifts.

It's getting exceedingly tiresome that you have to be the first to jump in and express your opinion in a manner that comes across, like those of Us that do care, are in some way, shape or form, lesser for doing so.

Then be tired. Generally when I respond in what you find to be a "tiresome" manner it's because I find the remark in question tiresome. C'est la guerre.

If I were able to, I'd take this photo, crop it down to his head and then I'd then animate the eyes to roll up. It would then make a great companion to Picards "face-palm"

Anyway, the new IMG is very powerful. It appears Spock just conveyed to him some very bad news causing him to stagger and gasp at the gravity of the situation.

Goodness, you must be tired ALL The Time then...

Funny you should find it necessary to remark upon my feelings about How You Comment, rather than upon the more important aspect, of how you always seem to come across, to those of US you disagree with.

"...Kirk - who is not an historical personage with known physical characteristics -..."

Wow... I guess seeing that same Characters' Image for 40 years through 79 TV Episodes, 22 Animated Episodes, 6 Movies, countless reruns and quite a few version's of VHS Tapes/DVD's, as well as a multitude of spinoff commercial merchandise, doesn't count as something with known Physical Characteristics.

Nor apparently, does it seem that that same 40 years of being an icon in the public-eye is something that is considered Historical anymore.

BTW: Thank you for pointing out that a single comment made in this particular thread, apparently constitutes making a fuss.
I guess responding to said comment (as I'm doing here) with multiple paragraphs, isn't quite as fussy. :rommie:

Oooo....

WE could call her 'Kirkbuck'.

I just realized... I've been watching Trek for almost 20 years.
And until recently I had never really bothered to pay any particular attention to what color Kirk's eyes are.

As a matter of fact I could not tell you what color Picard's eyes are, Sisko's, Troi's, Scotty's, Sulu's etc etc etc
I'm not a very good fan,am I ?

That said, I don't see why it would be such a big deal for Pine to wear contacts.
Maybe the reasons are medical. Maybe they didn't think it's important. Who knows...

Bad lighting! Are they going for the Bill Adama "pockmarked" look? :rommie:

I've been watching Trek since the age of four, and all this time I thought Kirk's eyes were brown. :p

How do we know Kirk didn't wear blue contacts at that age? Might have been all the rage. Like Chekov's moptop among 2260s youngsters. :p

For what it's worth, the part in McCoy's hair is on the wrong side, too. :scream: Guess we'll explain it by saying he changed it to the TOS side later. There. That works for me.

OT, is that a scar on Pine's face?

boy, do I know how to start something or what?!:lol:

you know, Dennis, I have and do support this movie. I am even stoked, STOKED about it... and have said so many, MANY times on this very board AND on Trekmovie. so forgive me if I say one leetle thing that I wish I would have gotten. as it happens, I didn't get it, but I am sure not going to spoil my enjoyment of the thing because of one little thing.

that said, I think you need to chill out... cool off. it's not necessary for you to jump on everybody, least of all people who AGREE with you about the movie -- in order to let people know your opinion.

we know. we get it. but it's still a free board that we ALL inhabit and post freely on

"Not the same color as Robin Curtis' eyes" was what I was going for, really. :p

What color were David Watson's eyes? Okay, he did wear contacts. And how obscure is that? ;)
And I'd have to check to see who David Watson is, so his eye color or whether he wore contacts are probably pretty obscure details.

He replaced Roddy McDowall as "Cornelius" in one "Planet Of The Apes" movie.

Nor apparently, does it seem that that same 40 years of being an icon in the public-eye is something that is considered Historical anymore.[sic]

Any more? It never did. An historical personage is someone who actually lived, not a TV character who's been made a fetish of by obsessive fans.

Fortunately, almost no one who'll see this movie could actually tell you if asked what color Shatner's eyes are without looking at him.

Did Robin Curtis' match Kirstie's? I never bothered to compare the two actresses' eyes.
