New 2017 titles and blurbs - DTI, McCormack DS9, and more!

Jinn I just wanted to ask you about David George's Original sin novel is it going to another DS9 novel or one of the other Trek series novels. I couldn't find it listed on Amazon.com yet. Any information about the new book would be greatly appreciated.

The only place it currently can be found without much of information is on Simon & Schuster's site. https://catalog.simonandschuster.com/TitleDetails/TitleDetails.aspx?cid=1304&isbn=9781501133220

Funny that you ask, though. I have been digging a little more about this and I think I have found something indicating what it is: https://defcons-treklit.blogspot.de/2017/02/speculation-december-drg-iii-novel.html

P.S.: Before anyone accuses me of trying to generate clicks, this is speculating on a Speculation, but I think it could be a U.S.S. Robinson novel.

Uh, I've got no idea. I don't have more information than the rest of us. Though I did ask the author on facebook but then deleted it when I saw that there was no activity since I think August 2016.

Edit: Okay, @Defcon That sounds convincing. I could see that as a DS9 miniseries. Like Mission Gamma, just without the "mission" in the title and maybe the parts on the station.

Cool, if true it'll be nice to see Sisko and the Robinson crew get a whole book (or more?) devoted just to them.

I'd presume more than one since the working title or whatever it is says "First mission" and as this definitely isn't the first mission of the starship Robinson I think it'll be the first book in a series of books with the Robinson.

Hm.... Not sure if a whole series of novels set in the Robinson would tickle my fancy. But more focus on them in more DS9 novels would certainly be welcome.

I'd rather have a new Aventine novel, possibly either by David Mack or James Swallow.

Thanks for the information Jinn and Defcon I've been hoping there would be a Ds9 Miniseries about The US.S. Robinson featuring Ben Sisko and his crew having adventures in the Gamma Quadrant again.

Well, that kind of makes up for Pocket taking some months off this year.
I'm alot more interested in this than the Kirk one for some reason.
Well, there is a larger period of Picard's life pre-TNG that's undocumented than there was of Kirk's pre-TOS life.

I really hope Mr. Goodman stays consistent with Christopher's amazing TLE book, The Buried Age...

I suspect you're going to be disappointed, if Goodman's Kirk and Federation books are anything to go by. He's creating his own separate continuity, based only on the shows and movies (and sometimes, not even the movies!)

Yeah. I figure as much. I'll just enjoy the book for what it is. I loved his Kirk bio, so i'm sure he'll do a great job with Picard. When you really think about it, it's probably better that he cuts his own path. More than one interpretation of events can really make for enjoyable reading. I recind my earlier remark!

He did use some names from previous novels like David Garrovick, Heihachiro Nogura, Hiram Roth, Lance Cartwright, Loom Aleek-Om, L. T. Stone, Ra-ghoratreii and Stephen Garrovick, but not much else.

It annoyed me a bit that he misspelled certain names like Antonia Slavotori (Antonia Salvatori), Dimorous (Dimorus), Kevin Reilly (Kevin Riley) and Ronald Tracy (Ronald Tracey). It makes it harder to do Google searches.

Names, yes, but he wrote the characters themselves differently. For example, Goodman's take on Admiral Nogura is very different from the Admiral Nogura of novel continuity.

Seems like Jean-Luc Picard gets the same "auto"biography treatment as James Kirk, as Amazon now lists The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard for September 5th 2017. Like Kirk's biography it will also be written by @DavidAGoodman.

Cover and blurb have been revealed:
Autobiography-of-Jean-Luc-Picard-cover_zpsmltmbibw.jpg

The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard is an in-world memoir chronicling the story of one of the most celebrated names in Starfleet history. His extraordinary life and career makes for dramatic reading: court martials, unrequited love, his capture and torture at the hand of the Cardassians, his assimilation with the Borg and countless other encounters as captain of the celebrated Starship Enterprise.

David A. Goodman, who also wrote The Autobiography of James T. Kirk, has spent the last 26 years writing for television. His credits include The Golden Girls, Star Trek: Enterprise, Futurama (where he wrote the Nebula Award nominated Star Trek homage “Where No Fan Has Gone Before”), and Family Guy, where he was head writer for six years.
