Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^^ Well we did see it from two distinct angles: first from the side as it crossed the screen and then from the front as it seemed to pivot on the ship's viewscreen.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^ What always bothered me was in The Doomsday Machine, That shot of the Enterprise as it fires it's phasers is wrong.

Rather than using the dolly, it looks as though they just panned the camera, or turned a static shot of the model and cut a travel-matte.

I have a thought...

What would happen if you took out the interconnecting dorsal?

1701-E?

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I appreciate this entire thread. Alot of fun suggestions of the possible alteratives that might have popped up.

I really like this starfleet vessel of the future. Especially the hand-drawn look (at least to me) of it. Good lines there. It would make a sweet TAS future ship just the way it is.

You just mentioned my biggest gripe against most modern Trek ships.

Although not strictly TOS if there was ever to be another Star Trek series in the genuine spirit of the original series than I'd love to see something like this...without any damned suffix. This is my U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-71001...

it reminds me very much of a silver colored cgi model someone posted here over a year ago.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^^ This was posted about a year ago only at that time I hadn't yet coloured it. :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

One thing I think TOS could have done better was to make maximum use of the available stock footage.

For example here, I took this shot from"The Doomsday Machine" of Decker flying away from the Enterprise and composited a still from the End credits of "The Cage" I also scaled down some of the stars.

Some simple stockfootage could be made to look 100% new with the melding of other stockfootage. ;)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^^ Cool. I thought I'd done a shot like that, but checking I see that I misrembered it. I'll have to correct that oversight. :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Laviano, I'll admit that my eyes are not that good, but I can't tell if you inserted the shuttle on the E pic or the E on the shuttle pic. You've done well!

Nice pic Laviano!
Agreed. You've demonstrated, Laviano, what can be accomplished without all the bells and whistles (which I also love, but don't have)

Nice one!

And since Warped9 helped out with this one I thought I'd post it here.

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

It would have been nice if they could have used a different ship design for the Defiant in "The Tholian Web."

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Post TMP. The Enterprise encounters an odd spatial rift that deposits them into a strange alternate universe...

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

You do realize that the Saladin is transparent in that image, right?

 at the second one :D
